South America cruise - From: Our 2nd Cruise: Valparaiso, Chile to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
I enjoyed reading your cruise log: Valparaiso, Chile to Rio. I just returned from a 2-1/2 month cruise on Prinsendam from Florida to Florida, including a week on the Amazon, then south to Rio, Montevideo, B.A. Falklands, Antarctica, Chile, Peru, Panama, Colombia--loved South America. I was surprised how modern the cities were. It was like visiting Europe with a Latin accent. Loved the people, food, wine, music, wildlife, and scenery. Here's to more cruising! Thanks for your blog.

HaLong Bay trip - From: Vietnam - Hanoi & HaLong Bay
I enjoyed reading about your trip to Hanoi & HaLong. We're taking our 3 kids & son-in-law (18-25) to Thailand over Christmas & hope to take a side trip to this area. Our daughter teaches in Thailand so she has done a lot of traveling in that country but not Vietnam. Any other suggestions for adventurous 18-25 year olds?

- From: Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) & The Mekong Delta
Wow! A couple of things come to mind here... The first is that you don't tell us how quickly Larry turned down the offer from the masseuse (I'm assuming he did, of course). My guess is that, knowing you were in earshot, he waited an agonizingly long time before refusing... Secondly, your bungalow experience actually reminds me of my time in rural Queensland. In a very hot summer, green tree frogs look for water wherever they can find it, so, if a window is open in your hotel room, the chances are good that you'll find one floating in your toilet looking up at you. Gave me a nasty turn - but I imagine it was worse for the poor frog! Finally, the image of a child selling heroin is striking...and disturbing. Great blog - and amazing stories!

=) - From: Our Engagement
You two have truly proven that, "a dream is a wish your heart makes." As I look back on the many years and wonderful memories I have shared with Melanie, I cannot remember a time when she had a brighter sparkle in her eye than the time that she has spent with Larry. It gives the rest of us hope that true love and romanticism is still alive. I only wish you two were closer so we could share these exciting moments with you (oh, and so I could try on that blinging ring! jk). Seriously, Larry, thank you for being so wonderful to someone so dear to me. She deserves the best, which you have proven to be! Best wishes...

Congratulations!!!!! OMG, I am so excited. So happy for you both. I remember when Melanie had her second date with Larry right after we moved into Bedford Estate and said "I love my Guy" - literally. And I was like, whoa - those are heavy words for a second date. And then I think I saw her three more times at the apt. in the next 5 months b/she was always with LareBare! OK, that may be a slight exaggeration...slight. YAY! Congrats congrats congrats. I love you guys and couldn't be happier for you because in the words of Mariah "oh baby baby you belong together"!

We miss you Guys - From: Training and my first few days teaching
Hey Guys, Japan looks awesome and the two of you look like you are taking full advantage of a chance of a lifetime! Must be strange walking around a city not knowing where you are going. What do the traing facilities look like? I couldn't imagine washing myself on a bucket next to 6 other dudes, but at least you should have the biggest banana! Keep up the blog, its good reading material. Best of luck to Melanie, hopefully she can keep her eye on the top of the theatre and not get caught in the ropes! Talk to you soon!

You guys are so damn cute! I love reading about your experiences and I am now dying to visit Japan! Larry - teaching sounds so rewarding! Melanie, be careful with that spinning thing - I'm a little stressed out about it;) Have fun and keep the blogs coming. It's a freaking blizzard here in nyc, so you're not missing out! So cute I may puke! - From: We made it to Japan
You two are absolutely adorable. I only wish to find such an incredible bond someday! It sounds like having your best friend with you forever...slightly making me ill, but that's only b/c I'm jealous. As you probably already know, I miss you like crazy (sounds weird seeing that you weren't exactly part of my everyday life for a few years now). MelWal, you certainly mean the world to me, an Larry, you're pretty amazing, too! I am so excited to hear how much fun you two are having. I look forward to more great information. As for me, the only news I have is that I have lost 8.6 pounds on Weight Watchers so far. I can't tell the difference to save my life, but I'm still hanging in there, as I do not wish to remain one of those fat, lazy Americans you speak of. :) I'll keep you updated. I love you. Have a great week! Now I am going to try and bribe Amy to play cards with me! Adios! That's the closest I'll come to another language...sorry guys, but I am learning a lot from you! :)
