Hi everyone, This blog is about our latest trip, a week-long visa-run to Taipei, Taiwan. Usually for new work visa's, foreigners in Korea usually just go to Japan - since it is the closest country to us. But, since Larry and I had already lived there for nearly a year and wanted to try somewhere new, we chose to go to Taipei - also close, being only about a 2.5 hour plane ride away. Our hotel was really nice, right in the middle of a really trendy and happening shopping area known as Ximending. It's name was the WonStar Hotel, and [View Full Entry]

Hello folks, This blog is about our last night at English Village (in case you're totally out of the loop, the job we've had for the past year here in S. Korea)....and the bon voyage party we had before we left. As you can see by all the pictures of our great friends, we had a hard time saying "good-bye!" Over our 1-year contract we met many wonderful people that hopefully we'll stay in touch with as best we can - even though oceans will eventually separate most of us! We did meet some other Americans, but we also hope to [View Full Entry]

Hello again, Ok, so last we left you, we were boarding the plane in Hoi'An and heading to our last Vietnam destination - Ho Chi Minh City (formerly known as Saigon). We arrived at our hotel, the Lac Vien Hotel, around dinner time. It was a nice hotel, like the others we'd stayed at, only $27/night. It was also very new and especially clean. The hotel was located in "Backpackers' Alley," and so even though it wasn't as cheap as most of the other 'backpackers' hotels,' it was still located on a very happening street - with lots of cheap eats [View Full Entry]

Hello everyone! So, last you heard from us, we were just boarding the plane to get to our next Vietnam destination: Hoi'An. Once in Hoi'An, it was already dark and getting late, but we were hungry and so we decided to go for a walk and see what was on our street. Right away, although it was late and most were getting ready to close, we were astonished by how many tailors actually WERE in Hoi'An. All up and down the street were nothing but tailors, broken up every now and then by an occasional hotel or restaurant. Yes, this was [View Full Entry]

Hi folks, This is our first blog from our Vietnam trip in September. Since we went to three different cities, and spent a significant time in each one, we decided to divide up this blog into 3 different logs. This first one is about the northern capital city of Vietnam, Hanoi. Our first impressions of Vietnam were that it had really cool French architecture, a small amount of cars, but a ridiculous amount of motorbikes, and friendly people - most of whom spoke English (actually, surprisingly more speak English there than in Japan and Korea!!!) After we first arrived in Hanoi, [View Full Entry]

Hi all, "Boom Boom Musicland" This blog includes a plethora of events and news....the first being my new job as an actress on a new children's TV show for a large Korean broadcasting company, EBS. The show is called "Boom Boom Musicland," and I play a character named "Jeannie". I am one of two "foreign" characters on the show, the third character being an adorable 10 year old girl from Korea named "Pinky." And finally, my co-worker Brad is the other foreign actor....he is from Canada and plays a character named "DJ Boom Boom"...although he looks like more of mix between [View Full Entry]

Hello everyone, These pictures are from the 2 Two-Week Programs we had at English Village back in the summer. During these programs, all the teachers were divided into "houses" and we prepared ourselves for intense competition once the students arrived. (Well, Larry and I ended up winning the award of "The Most Competitive Teachers," so maybe we were the only ones REALLY preparing!!) The theme of these programs for Summer '07 was "A World of Fantasy," and so all of the houses/teams were appropriately named. There were the Hobbits, the Werewolves, the Elves, the Pirates, etc....our team [View Full Entry]

This summer, we had quite a blast at Korea's 10th Annual Mud Festival in Boryeong! We drove up with our friends Mike and Chloe, but met up with many other peeps once we arrived. We all stayed in the lovely Coconuts Hotel...only a block away from the beach, and of course, all of the exciting Mud Festival events! At the festival were many "mud-related" things to do - including mud-wrestling, colored mud, mud slides, mud pools, etc, etc. Our first day we weren't so lucky and didn't have such great weather....so we did some pottery sculpting along the beach, and then [View Full Entry]

Hi all, I know this blog is coming a little late, but I just wanted to say "thank you" for all the birthday wishes! They were very much appreciated from all the way across the world here in Korea... Even though I definitely missed all of my friends and family at home, I still had a really nice birthday here. On Sunday night (the night before my birthday), Larry, myself, and about 40 of our friends/coworkers came out for dinner and drinks at a restaurant called Bu. Bu is in Paju, and actually right down the street from English Village. It [View Full Entry]

This blog is a little sad as it makes us remember how much we miss our dear friends that left E.V. last month... This Mexican-themed party was thrown in honor of Ben & Kim and Angela & Andy....two couples that we met here at English Village and that we will miss very much! Ben & Kim are from Canada and will be getting married this summer! Angela & Andy are from New Zealand, and will soon be teaching in Kuwait! Anyway, this party was thrown in our E.V. cafeteria, and as you can see by the pictures, many people had fun [View Full Entry]
