What a busy day today, we got up after a hot night, we don't have air conditioning in our room, and since we arrived the temp has been in the mid 20's! We were able to walk to one of the starting points of the hop on hop off bus that we had tickets for so hopped on about 9.30 and set off.we went past the Natural History & Science Museums and Harrods, we just stayed on the bus until we got to Trafalgar Square where we changed busses and headed off to see Hyde Park, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben and the Parliament Buildings, London Bridge and the Tower Bridge then we hopped off at the Tower of London and jumped on a short river cruise up the Thames. Another early start today because we had booked one of the cruise trips to Capri, Sorrento and Pompeii. Aft leaving the ship we hopped on to a boat which took us to the island of Capri. We had to catch the cable car up the hill. There were heaps of people and it was really hot. We had a walk to the gardens of Augusto and a look in the perfume factory. It is really pretty here and lota of famous people come and stay on this island for there holidays. After that we went back down to the boat and went to Sorrento for lunch. Today we are in Mykonos, it is quite cool this morning and we took our time getting up and having breakfast before getting off the ship. We had to catch a bus to get to the town and as we got off the bus it started to rain, it wasn't really cold just not hot and sunny. We walked around the beach front then up into where the shops were, but the cobblestones were quite slippery and we kept getting wet from the rain coming off the verandas. We found a cafe and had a coffee wand some French fries and then the sun started to come out. All the houses here are painted white to keep them cool in the summer. As we entered the port to Rhodes early this morning we could see a medieval castle standing high on the hill and a high castle wall surrounding part of the town. The weather is hot and sunny again and I don't really want to get off the ship off it is going to be like yesterday's shopping but the castle looks quite cool so we got off and walked around the outside of the town wall along the sea front. Saw lots of little fish and some nice boats. Then we went inside where only people walking can go. The streets were tiny cobblestone and narrow. We are a bit behind with our blog but will try and catch up tomorrow morning. Today we docked at Piraeus in Greece. We got up and had breakfast then got off the ship and went by bus to Athens to see the Acropolis and ruins. It was really hot. we walked to the top and saw the Acropolis and Parthenon. There were lots of people. Then we had a look around the little street shops, dad brought a top that was made out of cotton to keep him cool. We waited for the bus and went back to the ship, and had a nice swim in the pool to cool off. We htea dinner in the Cafe again tonight and went back to our room.... read more
