Today we are docked at Messina Sicily. It is another hot and clear day. After a huge breakfast we got off the ship to have a look around Messina. We went to see the Cathedral and the Astronomical Clock which at 11.55am everyday comes to life. The big lion on top that roared really loud and a rooster that crowed then some figures and angels that move around. It lasted for 15 mins. Then we went to see the old crusaders church on top of the hill. When I got off the bus Mickey Mouse came up to me, I am not sure why he was there but got our photo taken. We had an early start this morning as our tour to Florence started at 7am. There was only 7 of us on the mini bus. Florence is about 3 hours drive. Halfway there we stopped at a small cafe that had lots of local food for us to sample. I tried some chocolate, it tasted spicy, some olive oil and some cheese. Then mum and dad had a coffee and I had a hot chocolate, it was just like melted chocolate and it was very rich. We got back on the bus and went to Florence. We had a long 12.5 hour flight from Singapore and even though we left at 1 am we didn't get much sleep. We got dinner and breakfast on the flight. Scrambled eggs yummy! We arrived in Rome at 8 am, collected our bags; mine was last again! Then we looked for a man with our name tag, he drove us to our hotel Hotel Romae. It took about an hour and the traffic was busy and there are some tiny cobble streets, lots of people and lots of motorbikes. Then we hopped on the Hop on Hop off bus and did o tour of the city. We woke up darkly again and after breakfast headed off on the bus to Marina Bay Sands and Bay South Gardens. We visited the Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest. They are huge glass conservatories, the flower one had different plants and flowers from around the world. The cloud one was amazing, it has a huge waterfall in the middle and we walked from the bottom to the top! Then we walked up the 128 stairs to the top of the super tree walkway and across the suspended walkway. While we were in the gardens we saw heaps of tiny centipedes, a cute little frog and a big bee! We had to get up really early to leave for the airport. We got to go on the black Air New Zealand aeroplane that was painted for the Allblacks! Awesome! We flew t Auckland which took an hour. Then we had to get on the big plane to go to Singapore. We took 10 hours and watched movies, played games and ate lots of food. We arrived in Singapore at 7pm (11.00pm In NZ) I was really tired and we had to wait longer to get to our motel. Then when we got to the motel I didn't have a bed! So the lady had to come and make one for me and the man had to fix the shower tap! Off to bed.... read more
