EN: After years and months spent in open-space offices, working 9-to-5, mondays to fridays ... we decided to make a break, go back home to Slovakia ... but before settling down, take advantage of the unique opportunity to travel without being limited by few days-off from work; and see the world different to the one we are used to. If not now...when ?

Hopefully we will be able to post few words here and there, don't expect long essays though - we do not intend to spend much time in internet cafes :)

Ak nie teraz ... tak kedy ?

3 nights in Rome, the eternal city. Enough to have sore leg muscles :) It was very nice ... the Colloseum, the Forum Romanum, all the "piazzas" (squares), Vatican ..... all the pizzas, lasagne, capuccino, tiramisu that tastes so differently in Italy :) Every huge crowds of people .. ! Probably never seen so many tourist in one place. In Vatican museum I met an Italian girl I remember from PayPal, where we started our initial training in the same group together. I recognized her, she remembered me. Now she is working as a tour guide. I uploaded few pics. Did not take many photos, I think there are lots of much better photos online of those monuments and art pieces :) (actually, this time I preferred to shoot a video)... read more

I'm back in Singapore, and tomorrow I fly home. I was in Ubud in Bali, where I spent 2 days. Ubud is a nice town, centre of art etc. I bought loads of souvenirs. Visited Kechak dance performance. Those of you who saw movie Baraka will know what it is. I visited also Monkey forest. Later I should add some pics of how a monkey grabbed my T-shirt, I await photos from my new Taiwanese friends whom I met some 3 times during my travels. The monkeys are very spoiled, coz their are holy in Hindu religion. They will grab whatever food you have. Or try search through your bags. And are becoming aggressive very easily. Before going to the Bali airport I visited Kuta, where are fine beaches, renowned for surfing. I wanted to take ... read more

I had some hard time to recover pictures from my memory card, that's why this post comes with a delay. My card got infected with some virus in some crappy dodgy net cafe. And after that it was showing different kinds of errors etc., even after removing the virus. I think it damaged that part of the card that "remembers" how and where the files are stored. But luckily I could do a backup using the standard tool that comes with windows. Although it seems I will be not able to use that card anymore, it is not working even after formatting. "F" the card, I have the pics !! So briefly, very briefly, with few pics only. To get to the Gili islands close to Lombok island, I would have needed to take the ferry ... read more

I'm in Padangbai now, which is a port to Lombok island. I would like to go to Gili Islands, which are right next to Lombok. It is renowned over here, very popular among the backpackers, all the people talk also about the magic mushrooms that you can get there. There is no police on those island, it seems that the government turns blind eye over it. But I go there for snorkelling of course ! I did snorkelling in Lovina. You have to hire a boat, a fisherman, to take you some 1+ km offshore to the coral reef. Beautiful. It was the very first time I did snorkelling. It is as if you were in a big aquarium full with tropical fishes - and they are all around you. Getting off from the boat on ... read more

I took a 3 days trip to Bromo volcano. There are also some other ones, still active. Check the pictures. From there the next day we went to Ijen region, through coffee plantations, we visited a coffee factory. Ijen volcano - in its crater the workers dig sulphur, then they carry it up the crater, and down to the valley. One load is around 75kg !!! They do this twice a day, so around 150 kg. And they get 600 rupiah per 1 kg, which is 0.05 euro ... so per day they earn around 8 euro. This tour ended in the harbour on the west coast of Java, from where we took the boat on our own. I went with 2 Taiwanese girls. Although I have asked them stupid question like: "Is Taiwan part of ... read more

Today I strolled in the streets of Yogyakarta city. The rickshaws are everywhere, asking as they see me:"Transport ?". One approached me in different way. He said he will show me the city, one hour for 5000 rupiahs (0.30 Euro). I knew it must be some sort of a con, as for that price they do not take tourists. Very soon I realized that we are not going to check the city sights, but he will take me around the shops, where everywhere he would get a commission should I purchase something. We checked a craftshop, where the make puppets from skin of a water buffalo. Nice works, it is carved, then painted. Used in shadow puppet shows. I did not buy it. The he wanted to take me to batik shops, or silver shops. I ... read more

I'm in city of Yogyakarta. Tourism is flourishing here, because of the buddhist temple Borobodur, and hinduist temple Prambanan in their vicinity. Both as Unesco heritage. I made both of them today, with a tour. Beautiful places, just bit overcrowded. Thousands of tourists, and Indonesians mainly. Therefore for may of the visitors I was a bigger attraction than the temples themselves. Countless of people have asked me to take photo with them. One girl told me that many of them are from villages, so they probably have never seen a foreigner in their life. Or if they saw, not as tall one as I'm :) Few times I asked them to take the pictures also with my camera. So some of them in the photogallery section.... read more

Today in the morning I went to "Harbour Centre" in Singapore, took the boat (45 mins) to Pulau Batam which si Indonesia already, got the "visa on arrival". The whole process took about 3 mins, no questions asked, no docs needed, just the valid passport. Slovakia is luckily since 2007 on a list of countries that can get "visa on arrival" in Indonesia. I just had to pay $ 25 USD for "30 days visa" There are no buses from Sekupang ( a place where the boat arrived on Batam island) to the Airport, so I had to take a taxi. There were even no tourists at all. I mean, I did not see any non-Asian types. I would have expected that people will stare at me, but no. Surprisingly, Indonesia is now GMT +6, and ... read more

This time it is my solo trip. Zuzana did not want to go, she says enough of travelling :) My main destination will be Indonesia, but there was a special offer for the flight tickets to Singapore. And there is a nice variety of low cost airlines in this region - tomorrow I'm heading to Pulam Batam island by boat (should be 45 mins), which is already Indonesia, and I'm flying to Jakarta from there. Singapore is very nice, almost all english speaking, nice range of accommodation, food courts.... My today's dinner was a dish consisting of pork meat+rice+veg ... for about 1.35 euro :) Few pics from Singapore attached.... read more
