As James was feeling better today, we decided to do one of the 14 or so walks listed - we decided to do a mountain walk to Gunung Beremban. It was a good day for it, the sun was out and the ground not too wet. The walk took 6 hours in the end, but the sight from the top was worth it. This was definitely a proper jungle/mountain walk and some of it was so steep that James had to haul me up! The peak stood at around 6800m! It's funny how we keep bumping into the same people - we were walking up to the peak, when we saw the Czech guy that we had seen in Melaka and also KL. After chatting for a few minutes we carried on up whilst he ... read more

Nous avons ... read more

We left Suka Suka at 12:45 and arrived back in Kula Kangsar where we had 3 hours until our 4:15 bus to Butterworth. We spent the time looking around the market and then sitting in a restaurant which was air conditioned as the heat is getting unbearable. We arrived in Butterworth at about 5:15 then caught the ferry to Georgetown and then checked in our hotel Hong Ping, We then went for dinner into little India, As I have been feeling unwell for the last 2 days I took the option of a pizza. following this I returned to the hotel and the rest went out drinking. After I got back to the hotel there was a large firework display not sure what it was for.... read more

Rachel's here! Rachel's here! I've spent a total of three years in China now, and this is the first time anyone has ever come visit me. I've been dancing around in anticipation for weeks! And now she's here! Rachel arrived in Hong Kong on the 15th and after a wonderful trip on various forms of public transportation (take the bus from the airport to the train stations, take the train to the border, walk across the border, and finally take a taxi from the border to home), she arrived in my wonderfully quaint little apartment and said, "This is cute. I love the way the shower is in the middle of the bathroom and you have to squeegy the floor after each shower." Actually, she didn't say that, but I could see it in her ... read more

Fri 16th Fay wan't feeling well (not all due to hang over) so Becky and I rose at 7 to get our tour bus to the Cu Chi tunnels where the local Vietnames hid and lived in a series of tunels. (I just went to Petes blog to try to get a great informative description but he didn't visit!). The visit started with the usual bus stop at the local craft shop. Once we had arrived at the tunnels we watched a video which was increadably anti american, calling them all sorts- I cant remember the exact words but it made me say to becky did they really just say that? (There were a large number of Americans on our bus). Unfortunatly the video wasn't that clear and our guides pronunciation of English was incomprehensible so ... read more

Samir's article. Happy St. Patrick's day!!!!!!!!! (As I'm sure many have mentioned) Yesterday, we left Jaisalmer and drove until we reached Bikaner where we found a hotel with a pool that was suprisingly cheaper than our last room. Today we went to a temple that would make Pittsburg seem ratless. That's right, it was the rat temple. And by hearing its name I bet you guessed what it was full of. Yup, lots and lots of elephants. Elephant sized rats!!!!! However, the locals worship these walking flea bags (no offense to those who own, are related to or are a rat) so it's good luck if one runs across your foot. (The fuzzier the better) And if you spot a white one, all the better. Jamil and Dad saw one, and Alia had a regular one ... read more

Okay, we obviously didn't realize that renting a car has it's bad times. So, we rented another car (with a driver this time) to take us around Rajastan, the land of kings, palaces, forts and open sewage. Smelly, yes, but undoubtably beautiful, and like always we manage! We started in Udaiper Um...sorry Udaipur, where we stayed for about three days. We visited a castle on our first day. Not much to say about it, just that we stayed there all day walking around and looking at the Lake Palace, a structure so admirable that the James Bond movie "Octopussy" was filmed here, so I guess it's considered the city of famous movies. Our second day was a little more interesting, we had what I call Indian art lessons, where you sit at a desk, pick ... read more
