well we have not been to the internet in over a week. A crazy week it has been. We took the minibus to Suratani on the Gulf side of the peninsula to catch a ferry to Ko Samui. It was pouring down rain in Suratani and we were taking our chances with the sun on the islands, but we did not want to spend a nite in the armpit town. We booked a hotel, ferry and train ride back to Bangkok from the island and later discovered we were scammed on everything. Everything they told us was a lie. First lie, öh you will be on the island eating dinner by 7:30! After a tuktuk ride to the bus station, a bus ride for an hour, a ferry ride for 2 hours, a taxi ride for ... read more

www.PhuketVacationApartments.com After my motorcycle accident I spent a glorious week at Club Lersuang through Phuket Vacation Apartments. I could not have found a nicer place to recuperate. Just down the road from the famous Amanpuri resort, the apartments (which are more like hotel living) are a brief walk away from Surin Beach -- a nice, quite beach without all the noise and vendors of Patong and other similar places. (Also, in the middle of the beach, there is a little shack that sells a mean fruit-salad!) The apartments themselves (PhuketVacationApartments.com have two in the complex) are very well appointed two bedroom places that are well worth the money. There are luxuries like room service, TV and DVD (and a small library of movies) and wireless internet access in the room. The pool is heavenly and the ... read more

Dan and Jennifer were supposed to be arriving this night. Didn’t have the flight info on me, but had an idea of when they should be getting in. We waited. We waited some more. We read. I checked the other terminal, I checked my email, and thank goodness Dan had emailed their itinerary before they left. Now, armed with airline and flight number, I went to Information, and they told me it was on time, but arriving in the other terminal. So we waited over there for a while—nothing. Went back to Information and gave their names—they were on the plane that supposedly had landed….Finally, around 2AM, we see them coming out, and something’s not right. Why are they only carrying a small backpack each? Damn….now we have to deal with missing baggage before we can ... read more

I knew we were going to like Chiang Mai. As long as you have a couple of bhat in your pocket it's an adventure sports paradise - bungee, white water rafting, trekking, elephant riding, quad, absailing, rock climbing, cycling and courses in everything from cooking to Thai to massage. We were never going to be bored here and luckily we had dropped anchor for 10 days. After the excitment of last Saturday night nobody objected when another day of R&R was suggested on Sunday to recover. We were now as thick as thieves with the Tassie lads and Nick who had the brilliant idea on an otherwise lazy day of going to the local tailors. Before we knew it we were spreadeagled in front of a mirror having our neck, waist and inside leg measurements taken ... read more

A terrible start was kelly nearly missing her connection at Auckland airport due to the thick fog that covered the Crusaders final the night before, it had hung around in christchurch till the next morning. All domestic flights had been cancelled. My plane was ok as an international connection. Luckly she pursadered the Air NZ staff to let her on to the only flight leaving and that was to Wellington with the Hurricanes. (lucky for some) However, on this flight someone decided to faint and all hell broke loose. In the end her thai airways flight waited 15mins for her. We both arrived at Bangkok Airport at the same time luckly. Customs there is reasonably tight with they taking a photo of you and everything, however no one cared what you brought into the country. Hello All, So we have made it to the Islands on the East Coast of Thailand and life is awesome. It was not easy getting here and the journey was well worth the reward. When we last checked in we were in Chiang Mai and heading North for a day in Chiang Dao. Chiang Dao was everything we expected and more. We hiked up 510 steps to see some awesome buddhas and the remains of a well known monk. Then we checked out a really cool cave complex that featured neat formations, buddhas and statuary from Burma and a whole lot of bats. The place we stayed was really neat and the food was awesome. We returned to Chiang Mai ready to travel only to discover at the train station that all trains to Bangkok were ... read more

Hele turen varerede 5 dage i alt, hvoraf to hele dage (stort set) blev brigt paa transport, hver vej.

So I spent yesterday afternoon touring around Bangkok. I first made my way down to the Wat Phra Kaew and it was actually quite fascinating. It was a whole bunch of elaborately decorated temples with all sorts of different statues of animals and people. I don't know alot about Buddhism so I couldn't really understand the significant of a lot of the buildings and statues but it was still a neat experience to see it all. The main attraction of the Wat Phra Kaew was the emerald Buddha, this Buddha sat on this 25 foot tall throne elaborately decorated with all different statues and colors. From what I understand Buddhist come from all over the world to see the emerald Buddha. I then went to the Grand Palace. Your not aloud to wear shorts in the ... read more

The three weeks with Mom and Daryl were pretty great. Their first week in Seoul was a great experience in that Colin and I got to share our little life in Korea with them...just like when Colin's sister Christine was here. And being with them when they saw new things for the first time made me have moments of renewed appreciation for living in Korea. They seemed to really like the big city. As Colin mentioned in the previous blog (along with pics) we did shopping, a weekend getaway, a ferry cruise, celebrated Buddha's birthday with the locals, and went to a palace. It was tough leaving Colin behind (again) but it was pretty cool to be setting off on a little adventure to Thailand with my mom and brother. We started in Bangkok and then ... read more
