Today, Nobel Peace Prize winner George F. Smoot gave a talk at EWHA. He received his title for Physics in 2006. I can't really write too much about the lecture, because to be honest, I didn't understand a lot of it. My knowledge in physics is minimal at BEST! haha But basically his findings proved the Big Bang theory correct. Also Einsteins theory that the Universe isn't expanding to be wrong, that the universe is expanding. It was pretty cool though to hear a Nobel Peace Prize winner speak so it deserved an entry. I only wish I had something more intelligible to say about the subject. ... read more

Monday afternoon while walking back from a failed attempt at finding the groceries I needed, a loud alarm sounded. People seemed to be hurrying along their way, but nothing out of the ordinary, so i continued on mine. I kept looking behind me waiting for an Ambulance or something to speed by. The noise was so loud, but it was continuous and steady. It wasn't getting louder or quieter, it just rang one. Minutes went buy and it continued. As I came up to the front gate of Ewha i saw that there were a few guards there closing the front gates, only allowing one small section for people to walk in and out. The road into campus was also closed. That was odd. It was only maybe 2 in the afternoon. They don't close the ... read more

I thought I would write a second post about my weekend, since I didn't really do that much. I was so sick and having the food poisoning at the beginning of the week just exhausted my body, and if there's one thing I know about myself it's that proper rest and TLC is the only way I feel better. On Saturday I woke up feeling like I had glass shards in my throat but I had planned on meeting up with Quan, my friend from university who has been living here teaching for the past year. I was really looking forward to it so we planned to meet at 3 at Sincheon station. As I walked up the steps in Sincheon station I saw Quan's familiar face, I was so happy to see someone I know ... read more

I can not believe it has been 2 weeks since I have come to South Korea! First, I must thank everyone who helped me get here, both money and support has been key in me being able to try this whole new life out. Second, I am sorry to those I have not spoken to since being here, it has been complete chaos trying to get everything together. I will give a little update on what I have been up to the last while. Starting back at the plane ride from Toronto -- Vancouver -- Seoul.. ok that was over 12 hours of flying. Around hour 3 I started to lose my cool and by hour 9 I was ready to jump out of the plane. Thankfully both of the planes that I travelled on had ... read more

노래 방 means a Karaoke Bar. it wasn't at all what i was expecting. When I think of a karaoke Bar I think of something like in my best friend's wedding. You go to a bar get a table and some drinks and take turns volunteering your friends to humiliate themselves singing in front of strangers. In Korea, it is not like what. We walked into a very fancy place and rented the room for 30,000KW for the hour (that also covered unlimited ice cream which is why I liked it) You literally go to a small room with a big long couch and the group that you go with sings all the songs they want for an hour. The part I think i hated the most was when you get there, you aren't allowed to ... read more

So is it true? You start digging a hole and you come out to China, right? The other side of the world. Well I've always had a hard time doing things the straight on right way, so my hole curved just a bit, and I made to to Seoul, South Korea. The flight over wasn't even as bad as I thought. Cramped, packed in like a sardine, yes. Long, yes. But aweful? Surprisingly no. It was two hours to Chicago, wait 20 minutes to board, 4 hours to San Fran, sprint to the gate to get there in time for last call, then 13 hours to Seoul. When I landed it San fran it was 1pm and i hadn't eaten or slept yet...but then when i called Dad i realized it was 4 back home. so ... read more

Hi, today I slept after I went on the airplane, then watch 101dalmations,when the kiddies meal which insists of kit-kat,troblerone,fruits,orange juice, macceronie cheese with tomato sauce too, arrived at my seat.Oh and hagendaze ice-cream which everyone had was certainly what I liked most of the flight to Hong Kong. I went to Hong Kong and waited for the next airplane to Korea.I ate fish fillet, peas, potatoes, vegetable , wholemeal bread and pudding while watching'Wall-E' on the airplane to Korea . Whoa we finally reached Korea ,specifically Seoul.I had to change into longjohn, jacket and wear a thick hat.We had to take MRT of three different lines before we could reach our destination, the hotel,'Casaville'in Sincheon. Daddy and I waited at the lobby while my mother and sister went to the 15th floor to check-in.Later on,after what seemed like eternity,my sister brought us ... read more

Hi guys, So last weekend was a holiday here in Korea, making it a beautiful long weekend and the last one till Christmas ☹. It was our friend Danny’s birthday, and he wanted to celebrate it in Seoul. Like us, Danny lives in a small town so he wanted to have his birthday with our crew from Orientation and not just him and the other foreigner in his town (I’m kidding…sort of, its probably more like four foreigners). So the plan was to go to Incheon on Thursday night, where our friends from orientation live. I thought Incheon was right next to Seoul, and it is on a map, but as we found out it takes about an hour and a half to go from Seoul to Incheon. We were fortunate enough to have to go ... read more

I originally wrote this in Seoul airport but it didn't publish... Take 2.. August 19th So the exterme tiredness I was experiencing turned out to be the start of a stomach bug. By this morning I was not feeling well. I still went down to the beach and suntanned, had a foot foot scrub, massage and toe nails painted, enjoyed the beautiful sunset at the end of the day. for the 3rd night in a row I was in bed by 830 pm. Railay was amazing and relaxing but I unfortunatley didn't get to experience it with the same spunk as the rest of my travelling. I wasn't as outgoing so didn't chat it up with my waiters, or the shop keepers or hang out at the coffee shop or bar by my bungalows. I did ... read more
