Back by popular demand… And the fact that I have been completely neglectful on this for a better part of a year. Anyhow, where do I begin? Haha. Since last November (my last post) life has been pretty usual for me here in Korea. I am finishing up my second year in at my current school and I’m going to a new school on September 1st. My current school has been pretty good but it’s time to move on. I will be going to a school based on the Montessori principles. I am very excited for my new opportunity. Very excited. With this new job I am moving about 30 minutes closer to Seoul, I’ll have a bigger and better apartment, and I will once again live right next to the subway. I did just get ... read more

Hello old friend! Wow… It has been way too long since I have done one of these things. I have been meaning to write on here for months now. Unfortunately because of a combination of work, life and fun my laziness hit me every time I was home in my apartment. Haha. So here goes a quick recount, probably in no particular order of the last several months. Lets see… Well, the last time I wrote on here I had my old kindergarten class. I now have two classes of some adorable 5 year olds who adore me. They started out not knowing any English and my first two months were pretty rough. But you should see them now! Most of them can read entire reading passages and small books. I’m so proud of them. I ... read more

Well, here it is... I finally got a chance to take the video and uploaded it. Unfortunately the video quality isn’t the greatest as well as the video editing. A little background on our production... First, the main character is Donny, not Dorothy. Haha... We had to cast one of the boys as the main character. Some of the girls in my class have some moms who would not be happy if the other's daughter had the lead. Haha... Yes, it's ridiculous, I know. And, the boy who plays the munchkin and the magic monkey was the same kid. Unfortunately the only way you can tell the difference between his costumes is the munchkin didn’t have the monkey head on. Haha… Damn budget restraints. Haha. Anyhow, the story should be familiar, but I did have to ... read more

OK ok ok…. Haha… Christine has been getting on my case about me absenteeism on here, haha. But in my defense it is the end of the school year here and my kindergarten play was last week…. And the kindergarten graduation was this past week. Ugh… Haha. It has been a lot to deal with. Plus, with the weather being cold I haven’t really done many new and interesting things. But I do have some things to cover in this addition. So there has been the Lunar New Year, an Aliens themed noreabang, a trip to the Dr.’s, a trip to the zoo, random bar nights, our musical, and graduation. Just to name a few. First off, on Lunar New Year I got a day off, so that’s cool. Haha. But EVERYTHING was closed on that ... read more

Well it’s been about twenty days so I figured I get caught up here before I get further behind. Ever since I came back to work from my Christmas vacation I haven’t been too busy sightseeing. It has been, from what my Korean friends tell me, the coldest winter in decades. So I have been kind of staying in or doing things that don’t require me to venture outside. Bitter cold plus snow equals a number of weekends in bars knitting my beer sweater with my buddies, one bottle at a time. Haha. I did, however, manage to do a few things and eat some great food that didn’t involve beer. This past weekend I was invited to antend an art show two of my kindergarteners were in. Of my two students, one was there, Anna. ... read more

Well I skipped a week last week, and I was on such a roll. Last Monday, the day of the week I usually write these things, I was really sick. I had some sort of 24 hour stomach bug. Needless to say I was in no condition to sit in front of my computer. I was in rough shape, that’s for sure. Anyways, I’m back to my good ol’ self and ready to catch up on here… SO here goes. Two weekends ago I had a pretty eventful weekend. I didn’t hang out with my buddies because on Saturday I had to go into work for a work thing. It was a sort of an open house for perspective parents and we had to look nice and smile for a few hours on Saturday morning. So ... read more

Another week has passed and with that another weekend has too. It was another great weekend of fantastic weather. Friday night I went out with some fellow English teachers and a few Korean teachers. We started out with some Korean BBQ and then made our way to a bar. After the bar we ended up at a Noraebang to sing some jams. I didn’t get home until 4am. Haha… It was one of the latest nights I’ve had in a very long time. But fun none the less. On Saturday I went with a couple of my buddies in to Seoul. Dave, Jon and I went to the 63 Building (63 빌딩). The 63 Building has, as you may have guessed, 63 floors. There are a bunch of things to ... read more

Well this week has been another great week. Work is clipping right along, and I am enjoying all my classes for the most part. The weather here in Korea has been awesome! The nights have been chilly and the days have been very comfortable. Fall in Korea is the best. This past weekend was pretty low-key but fun none the less. Friday night, after work, I headed to Seohyeon (It’s about 20 minutes from where I live) to hang out with one of my Korean friends I used to work with at my old school. I ate some curry and drank some beers. It was a good night hanging out. On Saturday I had to attend a training for a few hours at a nearby university, Dankook University. It’s a relatively new campus; about 5 or ... read more
