Well I skipped a week last week, and I was on such a roll. Last Monday, the day of the week I usually write these things, I was really sick. I had some sort of 24 hour stomach bug. Needless to say I was in no condition to sit in front of my computer. I was in rough shape, that’s for sure. Anyways, I’m back to my good ol’ self and ready to catch up on here… SO here goes.
Two weekends ago I had a pretty eventful weekend. I didn’t hang out with my buddies because on Saturday I had to go into work for a work thing. It was a sort of an open house for perspective parents and we had to look nice and smile for a few hours on Saturday morning. So that meant my Friday night had to be low key.
So, Friday night I hung out with my lady friend. We went out to dinner and had a pretty quite. There wasn’t much more to the night than that. I had to be up at 8 the next morning. So that was that.
Saturday is never good when getting up early. I
got to school all primed and proper and ready to smile. That’s basically all it was. The English teachers just had to be there all dressed up and to look pretty. We had to each do a one minute blurb about ourselves, not that most of the parents could understand us. Haha… Once that was over our principal took us all out to eat at a pretty nice Italian restaurant. I had a cream pasta and bacon dish. It was AMAZING! And we had some wine. It was a nice lunch. After lunch I headed back to my place to rest up. By the time I got back to my apartment it was already 330. Jon was back in the US for the week, and Dave was looking to save some money. Not to mention I had no idea what time I was going to be finished so it would have been tough to coordinate a time to meet up with Dave in Seoul. SO, I went into Seoul that evening with my lady friend.
In Seoul, we went to
Seoul Tower (N서울타워). Seoul Tower is on a small mountain called Namsan. It marks the highest
point in Seoul and has been open to the public since 1980. It was a nice night to go, however it was a little cold. We walked up the mountain which took us about an hour. Once at the top we bought a ticket and waited to go up to the observation deck. It was really cool. I had been there before but it was a foggy day. This time it was nice and completely clear. It was a really awesome sight. After our time in Seoul Tower we were a little hungry so we headed to
Myeongdong (명동). We walked around a bit before settling on some donkaseu (돈가스), one of my favorites as I have written about in a previous post. It was a great dinner. Then it was back to Suji for some sleep.
The next day, Sunday, I had remembered that my lady friend wanted to go to this lantern festival, it just so happened that this day was the last day it was running. So I called her up and convinced her to go. Once there she was very happy that I talked her into going. The lantern
festival is called
The 2012 Seoul Lantern Festival , and it is held in Seoul on the
Cheonggyecheon (청계천). It is 1.5 kilometers long festival with super cool lantern sculptures right over the creek. And we saw it at night so it was amazing! I got a TON of really good pictures, and I’ve posted them below. After we walked the entire rout we decided to get some dinner. We ended up finding an Abiko Curry place, and I love me some curry! I had a jumbo pork cutlet with curry and cheese. It was outstanding! If I could eat curry every day I would, haha.
Now for this past weekend… It wasn’t as scenic as the previous week, but I had a good time. Friday night I hung out in Seohyeon, near where I used to live, with an old friend from my last school. We had some Pho Mein for dinner and then went to a bar. We sat and drank for a few hours… Before we knew it my cell phone read 330am! Haha. And I was a little tipsy, as you could imagine.
On Saturday I met Jon and Dave in Seoul. We went
to a Buddhist temple. It easily had one of the biggest Buddhas I’ve seen. It was pretty cool. After that we headed to another part of Seoul and hit up a bar for a few hours. It’s always good to hang out with buddies and just drinking some beers… Especially in Seoul! Good times.
And finally for yesterday, Sunday. Dave crashed at my place so in the morning we had some lunch and then he headed back to his place. Seeing I hadn’t hung out with my lady all weekend, I decided to see if she wanted to do something. We ended up going into Seoul to see a movie and grab some dinner. We walked around a little then headed home. And that was that…
Hopefully I will be back on schedule with my weekly updates. Feel free to comment on any of my posts or pictures. Thanks for reading! Until next time…
