Kate and me, with our mums, drinking cocktails with the views of Bangkok!
Hello!

After hanging out in Chang Mai for a couple of weeks, including a 3 day trip to Pai, I headed South to good old Bangkok where I landed on the (Thai) night bus, caught a public bus for 4baht and eventually got some snooze between 8am and 10am... I then dashed around doing bits before collecting Mum from the airport... how bizaarrre!

Mum and I met Kate and her Mum and had a good couple of days and evenings - saw some sights and drank cocktails at Vertigo; the roof top bar of the very classy Banyan Tree Hotel. The second evening we ate dinner by the river, after spending hours searching for a cafe Kate had read about, which we eventually found, down a sneaky side alley that you çouldn't miss'?!

Kate and her Mum headed for Cambodia so Mum & I headed South to Koh Chang, where we have spent the past week, mainly chilling on the beach! It was nice seeing James3's sister, Sally, her boyfriend Tos and her friend Coral, who I knew from work. The action during the week consisted of an Elephant ride, driving a jeep round the

island, a personal jungle tour with Tos himself (and his machette) and a Fun Dive (just me, not Mum). Unfortunately, dummy here forgot to wash her ears out after the second dive and now has an ear infection! I think the sea water/salt must've caused it...

Anyhoo!! We left Koh Chang with Sally and Tos (Coral having already headed home). We caught a taxi to the car ferry, but a Thai bank holiday meant everyone was leaving and a back-log of cars resulted in us walking the rest of the way, rucksacks and all... Sally and Tos left Mum and I to catch a minibus to the boarder.

Sally and Tos spent the night in Trat before heading North towards Chang Mai - Tos' first trip and first flight! Mum and I continued our adventure along paved but bumpy roads to the boarder then across to Koh Kong, Cambodia, where we relied on a very kind Canadian/Greek man to get us settled into a very nice hotel!

After summoning the courage to leave the hotel, Mum experienced her first (helmet-less) scooter ride to a reccommended German restaurant called Otto's. The tables and chairs were set

round the edge of the room, everyone facing inwards, forcing all us Europeans to make chit chat! As Mum chatted up the Italians to our left, we discovered that they were also catching the 8am ferry to Sihanoukville. Oh, and the strange little (very chatty) Japanese man (- oops not European!)

So Mum and I are getting on well, once I'd had a couple of days to chill and adjust... and we are now back on a beach in Sihanoukville, me with sore tummy & an ear infection (which I got drops for from a walk-in hospital!). We have re-found Kate and her Mum (Sylvia), as arranged, have transfered to their Guest house and will probably head towards Phnom Pen with them before returning to Bangkok by plane.

The plan for the next week is shopping in Bangkok (any requests for things to be taken back to England, let us know!), Mum flying back to Anglais and myself heading to Sydney, via Taipai!! Eeek! Before long my man will be back by my side, in Perth!

Watch this space for the next installment!

Current Temparature must be heading towards 40 degrees (judging by the sweat dripping off me!).

I'll try to sort some more piccies soon.

Hope you're all well, drop me a line and let me know.

Lotsa love,
Debz xxx
