5th April

We woke up to a heavy dew & fog which hadn’t been forecast so we had a lie in whilst I wrote up this rubbish. It cleared up by midday so after some hand-washing we decided to walk into town, about 2 miles away.

Turns out that it was a bad decision; we had only walked 100 yards from the campsite when 2 big dogs ran out from a garden, one of which bit Cathy on the fleshy part of her hip. Trying to defend ourselves, the same dog bit me too on the hip. Very, very frightening & it could have been so much worse. We eventually & thankfully got away, very, very shaken. A member of staff called the police & an ambulance. After a brief statement as we asked to press charges, off we went to the nearby town & the hospital but in an ambulance each. We went just to be on the safe side but also Cathy’s wound looked like it needed looking at to me. Patched up with no stitches required we discovered that there was no charge as it was classed as an emergency & we ordered a cab home – Cathy very upset & me very angry...& both sore. Dinner & an early night. Pharmacy in the morning for antibiotics. Went to bed with the dogs barking...we’re leaving tomorrow a day early...ps no photos today

glad to hear bite not too bad
Portugal was one of our destinations a few years ago. Recognized the photos of Braga. I think we walked down but must have taken the vehicular up. Sorry to hear that you found a couple of nasty dogs! Hope that you are all OK. Linda
