This was our hotel for 3 days. The Sandymount hotel is located between Balls bridge and Sandymount next to the Aviva Stadium.
Landed in Dublin on Wednesday morning after a sleepness night on the plane. But that did not deter our enthusiam upon reaching Ireland. After getting through customs, we obtain our 3 day bus pass and began wearing out the Dublin busses. The bus company threatened to take our pass away if we didn't take it easy. Now that we have figured out the bus and train routes, we have been in downtown Dublin many times.

Yesteday (Wednesday) Kathy and I walked along the canal and some streets around the Aviva Stadium just to get out and about after our flight. It didn't take us long before we realized that we had to be extremely careful crossing the streets because the drivers are on the left side. Being use to the US, we naturally looked to the left while crossing the street. It didn't take but about 10 IRATE drivers before we realized the error of our ways. Eventually we did end up the day at Temple Bar, a French Quarter type tourist trap, and had a couple of pints of Guinness and dinner of Bangers and Mash, and Irish lamb stew before heading back to the hotel and some much needed rest.

The first 3 nights we are staying at the Sandymount hotel in Sandymount, an upscale suburb of Dublin, which is similar to Chevy Chase in Lexington. The village of Sandymount is a small but quaint area boasting narrow avenues of small townhouses.

Today we walked around the village and visited a local realtor to gain some information about the expected rentals prices. Needless to say, we will not be staying in Sandymount.

We also headed back downtown to take the "Hop on Hop off" bus to tour the highlights of Dublin and see some of the areas we will be staying over the next 18 days or so. We are finishing off the day with some cheese, crackers and wine for cocktail hour.
