Today was my last sightseeing day in slovenia...but probably my favourite.
We spent the morning in Piran, a very peaceful town by the sea, with small cafes on the waters edge, and many passers by walking their dogs. We took a nice stroll through the town, had a relaxing cuppa in a cute cafe, then headed off to what i had been looking forward to the most...the caves!!!
When we arrived to the caves we stopped at an old castle, which was actually surrounded by caves. Hundreds of years ago, when war was taking place throughout europe, people who lived in the castle we able to hide and escape through secret passage ways into the caves.
We started the cave tour on a small train, then walked through it for about a km, where we reached the lowest part of the cave...over 150m below ground level! (actually, it wasnt the lowest...but people are unable to reach the lowest level of the cave, as it is a river!).
The caves where so amazing, consisting of huge columns and curtains, which took hundreds of thousands of years to develop.
Slovenia is such an amazing country, which I am
not looking forward to leaving! However, hopefully, another time soon I will be able to comeback here and discover even more of its natural beauty!

wow
This is great. Your granpa will flip when he sees this. I am envious. I didn't get to go to the island of Bled, just saw it from a distance. You have ignited the travel urge again. Miss you. Can't wait to see the other photos. Love you Mum
