Portlandia - Keeping it Weird

This leg of our trip saw us traveling from Seattle to Vancouver, Washington (Portland).Our Portland itinerary included: 13 Aug - Afternoon Amtrak train to Vancouver, Washington. Walked from the station to the Red Lion hotel on the Columbia River. A celebration dinner in Portland with Mom, Bill, Ben, Bren and Kirsten.14 Aug - Grandmother passed away in the morning before we could see her. We changed our plans for the weekend to allow people to mourn. Ju and I rented a car and drove up the Columbia River Gorge - celebration drinks in Teresia and John's backyard. 15 Aug - Visited Teresia's Healing Gardens in the morning. Taco Bell for lunch. Japanese garden in the afternoon. A lovely dinner in the evening with Teresia and John.16 Aug - Engagement celebration - by Mom and Teresia. Afternoon walked in downtown Portland touring the park blocks. That evening purchased a number of new board games with Ben and Kirsten.


17 Aug - early morning visit to Tanner Springs Park and VooDoo Doughnuts. A cloths shopping expedition to the major shopping centers. Dinner at mom's place.




18 Aug - Packed up and on the road by the mid-morning in the Tesla...


Highlights included: 1. even more homeless people than Seattle. 2. Ju's first sampling of various American foods - Taco Bell, VooDoo Donuts.... 3. Maryhill concrete replica of Stonehenge4. Purchasing mementos of Portland International Airport's famous carpet5. Touring Teresia's award winning gardens.

7. tax free shopping in Portland!!!

8. Despite it being really dry the traditional Japanese Garden was very nice to visit.

9. Getting to visit with my Grandpa and cheering him up.
