Run along the RiverRun along the RiverRun along the River

My Three-mile run crossing the river from my hotel
Well the worst thing to happen to me on this trip occurred on this day in Portland. Hair of the Dog Brewing was closed on Tuesday, August 18th for remodeling. One day remodel. Today. I get that if that is the worst thing that happens on your vacation you are pretty lucky, but hey, this is Hair off the Dog. For those that went to Hair on my birthday trip, you know I love this place and have visited it on every trip I have ever made to the Rose City. I could try and get there before I catch my train tomorrow, but we will see. Who does a one-day remodel? These guys had heavy duty circular saws and everything. In California, that is a two-week job with a union shop steward on-site! ;-P

My day started off great. Early in the morning, I got a note from Runkeeper asking if I wanted to log a run in today. "Hell yes!", I yelled at my phone. It did not respond. Before it got too hot in Portland (go figure), I got on the trail along the river and completed my promise to log a run in each

of the three cities I visited. I did three miles along the river and took this picture at the 1.75 mi. point. It was a great run and I followed up with a healthy breakfast. In retrospect, it is sad to think about the fact that the whole time I was looking forward to the Hair of the Dog. :-(

So I walk up to Hair in total denial, these dudes are working with the saws and every seat in the place is placed up on tables. Even though, I know the inevitable was upon me, I still read the sign about the one day remodel. The disappointment must have been all over my face becuase a Hair employee came out to the street and told me how sorry she was. So as the 90 degree heat was beating down on my newly bald head. I made a decision to follow the path that Will, Mike, Christian, Brian and I followed in January. The same path in which we met Brian's doppelganger + 15 years, the same path where we met a waitress that tried to pull an Aubrey Plaza attitude on us, and the path in which I incorrectly checked-in a beer, possibly, for the only time ever. I went to Basecamp Brewing for tasting and lunch.
