Ha ha, we have ducks in our pool! They are the only ones brave enough to venture into the cold water!
First up, its a Happy Birthday to our son Eden! Sorry we didnt get to spend time with you today!

We didn't post the blog last night because we decided to go to a movie last minute. We saw Jurassic park. It was okay, a big screen movie and the theatre was MASSIVE, a bit of a culture shock for us country bumpkins! But the popcorn and icecreams were awesome so thats what its all about!

Oh bad news! The split system in the Bago was brand new when we headed out on this journey. The cooling element has been given a real workout since we left. But the first night in Perth was the first time we turned the heating on.. (sigh...) Within an hour it made a loud pop and stopped working! Arghhh! We made a quick decision to buy a cheapy fan heater and get it fixed when we get back home. Its working okay, and we would be VERY lost without it. The nights have become very cold...

We've had a good couple of days but somewhat quiet though. Yesterday Rob spent the day with our son in law Colin who's working in Perth

Freo harbour is very busy, massive big crains
and I went to spend the day with an old school mate of mine. She and hubby live in the hills of Perth. Its beautiful up there and amazingly you can see the city just popping up in the middle of the 'flat' whilst these beautiful bushland hills seem like they are miles from anywhere! Not too many cities where the mountains meet the sea and the city in such close proximity! We went for a great walk, though the first 5 mins felt like it was almost vertical! But eventually it was rolling bushland hills. Then wonderfully, you come across a cute little village with patissieres and coffee! Good call! We also came across the northern terminus of the Bibbulmun track. Ever heard of it? I hadn't but its world famous apparently. Its a 1003 k walk that goes from Kalamunda to Albany. I believe the record holder has done it in 16 days but most people will take a couple of months at least. Maybe another day!

Today we spent the day with Colin in Freo. Its a beautiful part of the city, with lots of maritime history. Walking around the streets you can't help but feel

The old submarine is usually opened to the public but its under repair at the moment. Dissappointing..
you are walking through the streets in London, its a very British look. Very beautiful. We totally lost Rob in the Museum of ship wrecks. He'd been looking forward to seeing the piece of the lost ship Batavia that had been rescued. Its huge! But Rob does get his moneys worth in these places, he reads every thing thats written! So I wandered across the road to some markets that were on. I found myself in amongst the 'peace, love and mungbeans' set. There were stalls for 'save the refugee', 'save the whale', 'amnesty international' and many other hippy and flower power causes. I did feel a bit too straight for this lot, so grabbed some Salvador hot chocolate (yuck) and scooted off!

We eventually managed to drag Rob out of the museum, (he was very reluctant to leave, there must have been some poster he hadn't read in there!) and headed back home. I did manage to grab a hair cut on the way back. We got home just in time to see the last quarter of Demons and Saints.. It was a very close game and no amount of yelling and screaming helped the Dees across the

line... 41 seconds to go they kicked a goal to get in front. Yayyy! But 10 seconds later, Saints kicked one back! Arghhhhh! Its so hard being a Demons supporter... sighhh. You'd think I'd be used to it.

So tomorrow we will be going to Rottnest Island for the day, which is supposed to be fabulous! Lots of quocka piccies tomorrow! Stay tuned!

Rob sounds like Brian's long lost shipmate
Hi Lynn, hopefully you are getting the occasional comments I pop in. Just had to say that Rob and Brian (hubbie) would have kept pace in the museum AND shipwrecks to boot. I would have been with you in the market. I can see all the things we will recommend for you when you get to NZ next year (note I am saying WHEN!!). Must be a bit of a shock to have the cooler nights. B*gger about the heater. Hope you are still enjoying life and not missing the grandies too much. Hugs....Karen
