Not all those who wander are lostNot all those who wander are lostNot all those who wander are lost

I came across this on my way to book my round the world trip...it seemed very apt!
So hello - Haw's it gan? This is my very first blog entry...I promise they'll get better once i've given it a few attempts!

I decided to start a blog to share with people my round the world adventures that begin in just over 2 weeks.

On 27 Feb 15 I left work in a whirlwind of madness and mayhem and I started my first day of unemployment with a massive hangover, a bouncy ball and a hand-drawn finger puppet?!? Things have been on the up since. I'm slowly selling, donating or binning my worldly possessions however my flat still feels strangely still full of crap...crap i'm struggling to let go off. And my bouncy ball skills are improving every day.

Over the last few months big things have happened in order for me to make my dream of going round the world happen. Firstly, I took redundancy from a company i'd been in for a long time. Strange to be out of work having been working since the age of 12. Secondly and most importantly my lovely dog has gone to stay with his dad in Germany for a year. Mr D has been part of my life for almost 9 years and arranging his passport and saying goodbye has been one of the hardest i've ever done. He's rocking his own daily blog though so I know he's loving German life! Especially seeing the German's are super liberal letting dogs in bars, restaurants, shops and public transport - he's become a wee socialite! And finally, I've been attempting to learn to drive so that I can pick up Mr D on my return to Europe and as a contingency in case I need to when travelling. I've managed to pass my theory but where my driving skills feel holy unnatural my swearing ability seems to be effortless!

So with 2 weeks out I still need to declutter, pack for a year away, get money/visas, sort out bills, book more travel, have final injections, update my CV, say goodbye to my Scottish pals and attempt a driving test. It seems busy but I'm feeling chilled about getting started with my travels as what's been super impressive is all my awesome friends who've shared their travelling experiences, given me tips and recommendations and kindly put me in touch with their friends who're willing to help and guide me along the way. I think I will struggle to feel alone with so many lovely people keeping in touch. 😊

Clearing out
You failed to mention that you also cerimonally drank the entire contents of your drink cupboard so you wouldn't need to pack it! :)
