My first quad driveMy first quad driveMy first quad drive

I was a little nervous, but it was awesome
Since our network has been down all week and our electric was out today for area maintenance, Indiana and I decided to rent quads and go dune bashing. Tony was supposed to go with us - in fact, it was his idea - but he wound up having to work. So, Indy and I headed down towards the Mesaieed area. I had tried to find dunes previously, but I guess I didn't go far enough south. We stopped at this pretty resort area, Sea Line Beach Resort, to get money - that would be a nice place to spend a day, FYI. Then we were able to rent quads for 150 riyals each for one hour - not too shabby. Note: it may be a bit more, but we figured on a weekday when everyone else is supposed to be working, we probably got a cut rate. Who knows... You can totally haggle with these guys.

We took off and on my third try I was able to get up my first large hill. I'm kind of a wuss when it comes to things like quads and bikes, but I'm getting used to them. Plus, I usually don't drive when I go off-roading, so this was a new experience for me. And I loved it!

I had lathered on sunblock and after an hour I was fine, but my right leg was burned from the exhaust or something. Note to self: next time I need to bring/wear a long pants, a shmaa, and a sports bra!

Happy Independence Day!!!

Explosives!

Question
In the 'Explosives' pictures vehicles on both sides of the median are traveling the same direction...is that normal? No wonder you hate driving there! Oh, and the dune bashing looks awesome!!

Explosives!

Didn't even notice that!!!
Hahaha - no I think they are merging into our lanes and we are merging in to the main highway. I'm not sure though - this highway is under construction and yes there IS an area where it is hard to tell which direction you are supposed to go.
