This weekend was to be a kind of "team building" weekend. Starting with brunch on Friday at the Grand Hyatt hotel. A bit more expensive than I'm used to in Dubai, but it was a very very nice hotel and the brunch itself was pretty good. The weird part was seeing a Fashion Show going on at the same time, which I guess they plan to do for the next few months. It was distracting and loud, but I guess some people liked it. I know some of the guys at my table reeeeally liked it. It was good seeing some of my coworkers and even colleagues from other countries who happened to be in town, discussing other things besides work, though work mostly came up anyway. Tony was supposed to go with us - in fact, it was his idea - but he wound up having to work. So, Indy and I headed down towards the Mesaieed area. Loads of fun, even if you're not an adrenaline junky.... read more

Visited all the corners of Qatar with our German friend G... Zubara fort is to the north, Dukhan beach is the west, the singing sand dunes are in the east and Sealine beach is in the south. In between it's desert and that's where the Sheikh Faisal museum is located. The singing sand dunes are near the large American military base. We got there in the heat of the day, and the sand dunes were super hot. We found it hard to try and run up the dunes, as the hot sand got inside our footwear (We were not wearing boots). G.. even lost his sandals a little bit up, and was hopping up and down in his bare feet at the bottom while N.. and W.. went back up the dune to recover them. The ... read more
