Ta-da!Ta-da!Ta-da!

I "won the honor of being a teaching moral pioneer for the activity called "teaching moral development month" in 2012, Guangdong Peizheng College"
I never win anything. I think I once won a free pack of mineral water when I was a kid, but that's it. So in Sept, when my boss called me up to tell me I'd been nominated, I was quite surprised.

"Kris," she said, "You've been nominated for the Model Teacher Award."

"I what? The what? What does it mean?"

"It just means that you do your job really well. You're a good teacher and you do things with the students outside of your normal contracted hours. You know a lot of other teachers don't do that. This is the first year we have this award for foreign teachers."

"Yes, that's true. You said I'm nominated. Who else is nominated? I want to congratulate them, too!"

"Oh, just you. You're the only foreign teacher we're nominating. So, really, you've won."

"Wow, I'm just so overwhelmed. Thank you!" I still didn't believe it.

"I need to write up some nice things about you, so could you send me some information about yourself to help me?"

I sent her a few sentences about where I went to school, how long I'd been in China, attempting to study Chinese, my work at Peizheng. I later found out (as did she) that she needed to write a few thousand words about me.

Finally, this week, in a big official meeting I missed because I had to teach class, I was awarded my award, along with several other Chinese teachers. It now sits on my shelf, reminding that my good attitude and efforts are noticed and appreciated.
