The day started out innocent enough. We decided to tone down the beers. By 11AM we were thirsty.
At 9AM we promptly decided to take a tour of the Queens former Yacht "Britannia" you know the one. Where Princess Di and Charles stayed on their honeymoon. The Queen and Prince Philip had separate bedrooms. Remember. Ach...... Google it!.
The ship was decommissioned in 1997 at 3PM. All the clocks on the ship were stopped then. The ship has been moored in Edinborough ever since. We toured the Lass and all her staterooms. The Queens bedroom was adjoining Philips. Each bed was extremely small, equivelent to a single bed. A Queen should be in a queen size bed, not a single!
The diningroom on the yacht was oversized as was the parlor. Total unbalanced for me. IF I WAS KING I WOULD MAKE THE DINING ROOM MY BEDROOM and screw the rest of the ship!
Bernd made me put on a commanders hat ( see pic) when no one was looking. All of a sudden an ensign officer appeared and asked me a question. I gave an order and he followed the order! I told him to start
the ship! Next thing ya know he shouted into a microphone and the ship began to move! Ahggggggggggggg..........I started the ship by mistake!
She did not look to good for a Queens yacht. So I asked the mateys to swab the deck. But alas, the staterooms looked good. By 11:00 we were thirsty as I explained earlier, so we took a bus and got off when we thought there were choices of Pubs to eat. We were wrong and ended up in a questionable district where we had to keep walking to stay ahead of the riff and the raff. We ended up at a cafe beside the monkees. Don't ask. Food was delic.
After lunch we walked back up towards the castle and watched the street musicians perform. There was a Spanish playing musician who was simply amazing to watch. His fingers dance across the guitar strings as if they had a mind of there own. We also met an invisble man. ( see pic). He was standing around. He was trying not to be noticed. Bernd, un beknownst to me had booked a Whisky supper. At 6PM we went to our reserved supper spot and had
traditional Scottish food. Haggis, Heather beer, Haggis, again. We sampled 3 whiskies as well. From different regions of Scotland. One had the taste of leatherbound books and a campfire. Another of pears and a smidgen of oak. The last was smoked salmon and spicy.
There were festivals this past weekend, so after supper at 9PM we walked to where a major fireworks display was going to be, which was being launched atop Edinborough castle. We had a great view. It was spectacular the way it ended the night for us.
Tomorrow we go on a day tour to tour the highland stuff. I shall see what's what and report back.

Tie and Kilt
It's nice to see one with a matching tartan. Did you check the guy on the left to make sure his socks matched his tie - or maybe he was wearing a hose? ;-)
