Pumpkin sculpture
This is the famous sculpture by Kusama Yoyoi What a picturesque setting or what! I am in trouble again - I keep on losing my umbrella which acts as a sun barrier - sorry to mention it but it is cracking the flags here and has been since we arrived in Japan. Anyway, this time I left it on a bench - but true to form when we got back it is there ready and waiting for me to pick it up again. England we could take a leaf out of the Japanese way of life. Everyone is polite, cannot do enough for you and appears to be totally honest.
Well I think Mr F is getting into the spirit of being retired - yesterday we were walking along and he stopped suddenly - whats wrong I say "in a loud voice he says where's my hat, and again anxiously where's my hat". I am at this time looking straight on at him and what is on his head - his hat! I am thinking is he having me on here or what! No he wasn't which gave me the giggles for ages.
Anyway off on travels this morning first on a train and then on a ferry to Naoshima. It is an
absolutely idyllic island. I cannot get my head around it as it is such a little island but they have Gilbert & George pieces, Hockney etc I mean the real thing here ladies and gentleman. The art museum is amazing. They also have art sculptures outside in natural settings.
I think we have found a little bit of heaven in Japan. It is so quiet and peaceful here - if only I could afford to stay another day but got to look after the pennies now today I am officially unemployed.
Does it feel strange not being in work - when you are sitting outside a fantastic place with moving 6ft art scultpures looking over the sea, I can tell you not strange at all.
All those who know me well out there will already know I am a huge fan of Grand Designs and the hotel we are staying in tonight feels like one of the really modern homes from it. You know the ones I mean with clean lines and water that looks like infinity pools - I keep watching out for Kevin McCloud to come out from behind one of the pieces of art, ha ha.
Tonight we are having a meal in the museum itself and will be able to see some peices that are not seen by the public - we are so honoured.
