The plan worked - we were close to the front of a very long queue that stretched for hundreds of metres by the time the Effiel tower opened. We queued for 1.5 hours instead of 4 hours - still makes us silly tourists i know but couldn't come here and not do it. I was wondering if theres a term for how you tend to feel superior if you are at the front of a long queue like this - queperior? help me out with some better suggestions.

As we were first in it was a great to not have to push people out of the way to take photos and we simply walked back down rather than queuing for hours to get down. It was great - though Greg was a bit freaked out by the height.

Afterwards we headed to Pigalle and walked up to Montmartre. Full of artists and tourists but great views of the city from it's highest point. We discovered the BEST macarons ever and wished we had bought more. Walked back down and realised as it was sunday that pretty much everything was shut - we had to scavenge for food in our own fridge - though did take the kids to the local version of Maccas - Quick.

We have a great bakery downstairs - have probably over done it there but the chocolate crossaints are wonderful - as is everything else. Today was shopping - of I do love the range of stores here. Culling and packing of course. Lots of prep to be done to sort NYC so we don't turn up and sitting looking at each other for the two weeks! Think it's sorted. Hoping the weather will be warmer than here where it has struggles to make 20 degrees and pretty much has been overcast or showery everyday. We had a great lunch out today - true Paris style bistro, Wish we'd had time form more long lunches!

I'm sure we missed lots here in Paris but have tried to balance old arty stuff with some interesting things and of course the down time!!! It would have been easy to have walked 20kms everyday as there is so much to see but not sure it would have left as with any positive memories of France.
