Our first night in Bangkok went without a hitch, the street we stayed on was very busy and i massively wussed out and got a margherita for dinner whilst Jord was much braver and had the traditional Pad Thai (Noodles, egg and usually some meat.)

The lampu guest house where we stayed was relatively nice, although we upgraded to aircon after the first night with just a fan, as whilst cooler then Dubai, Bangkok is clammy and the air makes you feel sticky.

The hussle and bussle of Koh San road occupied the entire morning of our first full day. We had a quick breakfast before Jordan bartered away with a couple of the thousands of stall owners to get himself some flip flops and swimming trunks. Everbody wants a piece of you and whilst we initially welcomed the attention by continuing to chat to various tuk tuk owners and shaking thier hands etc we soon realised if we wanted to get anywhere without wasting 2hrs we had to be blunt. No eye contact/handshakes and a brief 'no thank you' is the only way to navigate the markets.

The locals love Jordan as he is so tall and the frequently stop us in the street to ask for his measurements. We soon learned from some of them that it was a Buddhist Holiay and today we could get into the Temples for free. Whilst we started out determined to walk it was so hot and we were advised it was too far. We eventually ended up getting a tuk tuk tour of the city. The Tuktuk stayed with us while we entered the various temples all of them impressive and ended up being a bargin @2GBP for about 3hrs.

However the catch was being ushered into several suit mancfacturers offering you low cost tailor made suits and a couple of tourist style tour organsiers. The second one of these tour organsiers ended up selling us travel to the north. We were so paranoid of being ripped off that we were uncertain whether to trust him but the deal sounded good and the locals had mentioned the place so we went for it not knowing whether we had done the right thing.

This is the main problem with Bangokok aside from the smells and dirt, its like a maze and you end up feeling a little lost and confused at first but its gets easier.

That night we ate from a street vendor, which is really cheap, had a massage on the street which was gooood! then went back home. The street was quiet early and no drinking was allowed because of the Buddist holiday so it was an early night in prep for the next day.

Quote of the day: Oh My Buddah! (One of the Locals, A teacher)

Message from Me, Mum and Dad!
I am currently under duress, so take everything that i write with a pinch of salt! Bastard said MUM. Its a massive heat wave and its 40 degrees Celcius here, our air con has broken, our shoes and melted and everyone is driving around in Yuktuks(?). Also, someone has discoverd Aripima in the Grand Union Canal. Joe has been down there ALL day catching one after another! In another (less realistic news), I am still a miserable old git, Dad has done a David Bowie Impression, James has got a Tattoo....on his phallis. Sometimes its really strong in colour but sometimes its really bland...seems to vary with his mood...strange. Just don't stick around when its strong in colour! Fent has got a Batchelor of homosexual studies, Geoff is still living with Nan, and Dad has decorated and painted around him! Nan Silve is OK, but she has a bad wrist. YAWWNNN...Mum has decorated and James's room has been done too (I said I was UNDER DURESS!) My Boss is still a bellend, and I am still focused on leaving. James is still on hols, but comes back Friday at 17.30 hours. Dad, also asked, where did Anna work, so he can pop into the staff room to get all his cutlery back?! Also, what time is good for you on the Skype front? As for some reason Mum wants to see your ugly faces? Seriously, Mum is suprised how much she doesnt miss you....HAHAHAHAHA. Only joking, your sorely missed by all esp. Mum (only Joking.....!) OUCH....Mum whacks me...as usual (only joking about mum hitting me....!) Hope you are having a good time. Love, Joe, Mum, Dad....and Jattoo (James with his new Tattoo....LOL!) xxx P.s. I nearly didn't send this.....jokes!
