On to Genova

Left the ship with some regret - though excited about next stage of the trip. Fast train to Genova took about 5 hrs all up. hotel is great, a family room right near piazza de Ferrari. close to shops, H&M will get a work out here, but am starting to run out of room.

day 1.

Our mission was to find a laundromat, not easy here, took a fair bit of Internet research, armed with my notes we headed of! Success we found it, the streets are tiny, filled with shops and markets. Greg watched over the washing while the kids and hit the streets, dog spotting as usually and getting a few bits and pieces we needed. all up 2 hours later we were washed and dried. we spent the afternoon looking around and I did some shopping while they went to MD's. Lots of churches, lots and lots and very spectacular. We went to a local piazza for dinner over looking another church, kids enjoyed the puppet show near by? Cooper didn't like spag bog, just as we all expected though Kasey loved the pizza!!

Day 2

Mission to get to the main station and buy our next lot of train tickets for our return from the cruisE and our trip back to Roma. walked down to the harbour through the fab little back streets, as it was Sunday not as much happening but still lots of tourists. this place, like Athens is full of Sudanese refugees sellingcopy handbags and sunglasses, seriously hundreds of them line the harbour front, everything displayed on sheets so they and roll it all up and run away from tHe police when they come by, not like Istanbul where the book sellers run like usain bolt when they see the tourist police. Huge galleon at the harbour was amazing. we managed to find the station and get the tickets walking back through the unesco area containing the university.

Spent a while in the park letting the kids burn off energy before shopping for the cruise and heading back to the room.
