The white sands of Destin Beach contribute to this area being ranked #2 in the country for beach destinations. We're camping at Topsail State Park in Santa Rosa, Florida. You can walk or ride a bike the quarter mile to the beach from the campground or take a tram. No cars allowed. Tom eyeballed wildlife that we were unsure about. The park ranger assured us that the "red headed skink" was not venemous. I felt sorry for the guy as he looks like his legs were put on backwards. He was hanging out at the wheelchair ramp in the dunes so..........hmmmm. This area is home to the Blue Angels. We would like to spend more time here but we want to get to central Florida before the weather gets too hot.
We stopped in Bushnell at the SKP park to wait out the rain. Sadly, this park had low voltage and the satellite TV on the roof couldn't break through the trees. So we turned in for the night early and set out for Peace River Thousand Trails Resort the next morning.
Peace River, located in central Florida, is nearly empty as the snowbirds leave in time to get
home and do their taxes. Luckily Rich and Donna Donald were here. Five years ago these were the folks that taught us Pickleball. We have managed one game before they too hit the road. And, since Rich is a multi-time gold medalist, we were barely fit to be on the court with them. BUT>>> Tom, who hasn't played much this year, was delighted when he and new friend Nathan came back from behind to win against this dynamite duo!
My sister lives nearby so this begins our "friends & family" leg of our trip East. From here we go to Orlando!

Glad to hear that you arrived safely in Florida. I hope you enjoy your time there with your sister. A Skink? Never heard of one before. It looks like it must be from the lizard family.
