The walk back to our guesthouse last night was quite trecherous. It was pitch black and all we had was Emilys little flashlight to hold us over. On the way I noticed how many stars were in the sky, you'd never see that in Bangkok, and definitly not back home in the cities. So it was pretty cool. We also saw some sort of glowy bug thing, it was going to latch on to Emilys face and kill her. But then it didn't. About halfway through our walk the batteries of the flashlight ran out, luckily I had some batteries in my camera that we could use, otherwise we would have been screwed, it was so dark out.

This morning we all got up pretty early, around 7:30, so that we could catch the daily taxi from our guest house to the main city here on the island. We thought it left at 8:30 but it didn't leave until 9:00. On the way to town we realized that the new year had started. We got hosed and sprayed while in the back of the truck, it was very refreshing and pretty funny. While we were walking around town little children

would spray us and then run up to us and smear baby powder of various colors on our faces. It's a pretty amusing new year. We ate at this bakery type place. They speak pretty good english there and Emily was able to find out which bread didn't have milk in it, so she was excited about that. I had a nice BLT, a pleasant change from meat and rice. We also bought some fruit and some fried bananas to take back to our bungalows for a snack later on. That should be nice as we don't have access to that where we're staying, we only have their restaurant to eat from.

I think tomorrow we're going to rent some motorbikes or quads and drive them around the island, or at least along the roads we feel comfortable enough taking them. That should be fun and it's pretty cheap to do. Our taxi back leaves in about 15 minutes so I'm going to head out now. This computer isn't recognizing my camera, and I don't feel like installing drivers on it, so I still don't have any pictures to put up, but soon I will. SOON!

ciao
