Happy New Year Everybody!

Phil picked me up from a deserted Alicante airport on Christmas Eve. We spent the night right next to the beach at La Marina and woke up to a beautiful sunny Christmas day! We had a nice walk along the beach and then went for a swim (mine was more of a quick plunge!). Christmas dinner with all the trimmings yum!!!

On Boxing day Phil spent the day dismantling the driveshaft. He was supposed to be replacing the gaiter which was leaking but unfortunately, as I had brought the wrong one from the UK, he had to make a temporary repair with superglue and a bit of rubber band! We will see how long it lasts.

Next day it was off inland to the Caves de Canelobres. We went for a walk first, to the top of a very steep hill, then took a look around the caves. (I like caves!).

Next it was down to Benidorm, Phil seemed to rather enjoy it whereas the only bit I liked was the sand carvings on the beach and I couldn't get out of there fast enough.

We spent a couple of days near Carcaixent amongst the orange groves where we had a lovely walk and cycle ride and Phil scrumped (and ate) bags full of oranges.

The plan was to spend New Years Eve near Valencia and then go in to the town to see the fireworks. However we had difficulty finding anywhere to stop and the campsite was closed so we ended up on a little site at Moncofa about 40km further north. There was nothing much on in town so we ended up in the campsite bar with about 50 English caravanners who were there on a rally. I must admit I did laugh a lot (even though it was mostly for the wrong reasons). Phil and me got drunk enough to join in one of their sketches where he was the Narrator and I was Cinderella but I drew the line at getting up to dance to Agadoo and the tweety bird song. Anyway a good time was had by all.

New Years Day found us sitting in our comfy chairs until lunchtime (until the headache subsided) then we went for a cycle up the coast and back. We joined another couple after dinner and my resolution not to have anything to drink that night failed miserably!
