Last night were gambled! LOL, seriously, we were invited, the whole teaching staff, to a wonderful evening, hosted by our CHinese friends, to celebrate the autumn and the full moon. We ate a type of cake called a moon cake, a nice combination of nuts, seeds, and sweets, had a feast at which the food just kept on coming, and drank many, many toasts with Chinese beer (which is really good!). After eating and eating and toasting and toasting, it was time to bring on the gambling! Using a large red ceramic bowl, we tossed, in turn, a number of dice, of which the magic combination was 4 fours. Andy explained how this was significant, but honestly, in all the excitement, his explanation was lost on me! What we did enjoy, though, was taking turns passing the bowl around the table and seeing what each of us rolled. For each 4 rolled, Andy gave us prizes! I ended up with laundry soap, dish soap, hand towels, toothbrushes! Some of the other teachers received soaps and shampoos. There were even toaster ovens and cash! WOW! At the end of the night, a bit woozy from all the beer toasts, the late hour,

(9 is late for us, how very SAD is that, now? LMAO) and all the heat and walking I'd done that day, I was only too glad to get home, shower up and jump into my jammies, throw some laundry in and snuggle into bed with the next chapter of "The Girl Who Played With Fire", by Stieg Larssen.
