Places to go and people to see. Yes I know how hard it must have been for you to say 'good-bye'. Our friends in China are each 'one in a million', almost literally. How I miss them all, and you too, of course. I feel like a big part of me has been left in China and I definitely will have to go back someday. Carolyn, I like your spirit and admire your many talents. Now go and enjoy the rest of your wonderful stay in that magical place.
Response to Joyce Aw, Joyce, thank you. It was difficult to publish that last blog....I felt very "naked" emotionally, if you get me. I miss you very much and I will SKYPE and we can catch up! Love ya, CH PS--I feel very lucky to have met you and made such a wonderful friend in you and also my Chinese friends and the other teachers.
A Way with Words What a touching tribute to the friends you met in Xiamen and the city itself! You will inspire many with the talk of warmth, good friends, emotions bubbling and wonderful food. I'm so glad you had this wonderful experience. What did you think of the Wall? Please be in touch sometime after you get home, I would love to hear more.
Response to Dawna Hi Dawna, so nice to receive your comments...I will certainly be in touch via SKYPE and we can talk for as long as we need to! LOL The WALL was AMAZING in so many ways, really, a wonder of humanity. I will blog about it next! Looking forward to talking with you. Xoxoxo CH
Response to Jeannine LMFAO, um, nope! It was something so violent and banal....I would have preferred "Man Bites Dog" anyday! oxoxo Love ya, miss ya, can't wait to SKYPE ya! LOL CH
With Envy How marvelous. Glad, and not surprised, that you are still taking full advantage of the sights and sounds of China. This is most likely the most fabulous trip you have taken. I know it was for me. With so many months waiting for my adventure to start, I can't believe it's already over. But I treasure all the photos we both have taken, and the blogs you have so diligently written. Great perseverance on your part. I half-expected your little computer to be shot out of an open window at any given moment, followed by a few choice words. :) I will look for your next blog when you have time to write it. Have fun, stay fabulous!
Response to Joyce Oh Mi amiga, lmao, yes, the little computer almost did get pitched through the single paned glass several times didn't it? Yet, I did perservere and I'm so glad of what a treasure I've created. Glad you're enjoying it still. I am in Beijing now enjoying the last leg of my adventure of a lifetime. Love you and will call you when I return home for a nice long catch up phone call. Carolyn xoxooxox
Books in China Hello,
My name is Evette and I'm from Toronto, Canada. I'm really enjoying your blog. I am hoping to teach English in China next year. I'm an avid reader are there a lot of English non fiction and fiction books there? It is so nice hearing about your experiences and seeing all your photos. I'm planning on teaching in Beijing but we'll see
birthday party and last adventure You lived all the experiences in China to the very fullest. Congratultions!! The birthday party looks like a lot of fun and it seems you did very well on the pearl shopping. The rest of the trip sounds amazing too - will be looking forward to that news. Take care.
We Know How to Party Hi Carolyn,
:Wasn;t that a party? What a wonderful time we had. Thank you for such a great idea. I'm tearing up just thinking about all the friends I had to leave behind, but like you said, " the fantasy must end sometime" You put into words what my heart was feeling. We had so many wonderful times, you and I. Like the Golden Girls theme song says,"Thank you for being my friend" Now that I think of it, that"s what you and I and Dawna were, Golden Girls in a world of dark hair and black eyes. Enjoy every minute. I will live vicariously through you for the next while. Miss you.
PS The song Hallelujah has a whole new meaning for me, and I will think of you, and us, and our time together in Xiamen. Bye
ROTFL!!!! I've been skimming back through the last few entries, but have to stop now - laughing too hard! I hope you plan on publishing the full e-book when you return to Canada!!!! :D
