Look at those skies!
SZ never had skies so blue when I lived there. I stopped in Shenzhen on my way back to Guangzhou. My old friend, Samuel, is returning to China for a graduate program up north. But he was in Shenzhen for one day (before heading out on a vacation before classes start), so I stopped by to see him and some other friends for a day before heading home.
Because the Universiade Games were underway, China had cleared out all the skies. I have never seen such blue skies in Shenzhen! Everything was clean, orderly, extra secure, and in many ways, nothing like the city I knew. The metro has four or five lines open now (as opposed to one and a half when I lived there), and the old lines are much longer. I was able to catch the metro at the ferry pier and Samuel later took another to the airport. It's amazing how much can happen in a year.

Blue Skies
That is crazy how they cleaned the skies up. Now if they could just put those rules into play everyday across China. Shenzhen is a new city with all the subway lines open now.
