CANIA GORGE

Thanks to everyone who sent us well wishes for our travels. We like hearing from you :-)
We are learning fast the huge area of queensland that was affected by the january floods. Three of the places we have camped (or tried to camp) were totally covered by water. Learning quickly that we need to have a backup camp in case the one we were planning to go to is not there anymore.
Paradise Dam was a great place to camp but very freezing cold at night! Peter tried his new fishing kayak out...but NO FISH.
Then we spent 3 nights at Cania Gorge Tourist Retreat. An eco-friendly camp groud right at the foot of the gorge. Had a fantastic hot shower under the watchfull eyes of a white frog. Then just before we left Peter pointed out to me that if you look a little closer into the toilet bowel you can see a green foot and leg under the toilet rim! Cute...but I had to change toilets after that!
Did 5 of the walks in the gorge, all are very steep and hard work going up but well worth the view or a nice cave to look at. Great going down. NO FISH in Cania Lake either. I think all the fish washed away in the floods.
Next stop is Canarvon Gorge. (might have to buy a beenie and some gloves)

Margaret im turning into the wolfman and yes it is grey, Carnarvon was lovely the best i've seen. We will update soon.
