Day two of the Keating Klan annual hunting experience.

The day started at 4:15, with a knock on the door. “Rise & Shine” . We got up, got dressed almost ready to head for the fields, but went down to breakfast to get a hearty start on the day, and to find out who we are going to be hunting with, and who our guide is going to be. Got out gear and headed back down to meet the guide.

Today, I had the pleasure of hunting with Mark, Joy's husband. This was his first duck hunting trip, and it was a good one. We had Brady as our guide. He is fluent in three languages: English, French and duck. He talked to the birds, convinced most of them to come visit us, and his trusty companion, Cam, retrieved everything we brought down. And, some of those were on the other side of grass islands, over 100 yards away. We got our limit today, in Pintail, and other ducks.

I think Mark had a great time, brought in his share of ducks, and if truth be told, contributed more to the blind limit than ol' dad.

got back to the lodge, took the required pictures, so that they could be posted on the Hackberry website, and enjoyed a nice hot bowl of chicken/sausage gumbo, potato salad, then went upstairs to clean up.

Michael and I then went to Lafayette, because we got word from Aunt jackie this morning that Uncle Tim is not doing well, and we should try to come visit. We did, and I'm glad we did.

We then went to the long awaited annual stuffed duck dinner at the lodge. Enjoyed supper,of sweet potato, rice, gravy, stuffed duck and boiled cabbage. Dessert was bread pudding with a rum sauce. Then went upstairs to get ready for tomorrow morning. It is suppose to be colder. Nice.

Picture does not do justice. There are ducks as far as the eye can see on the water, on both sides of the road. We only were able to scare up several hundred in this frame.

Day 2
Sounds like a good day. I'm really glad to hear they brought back the stuffed duck...I guess they got the message loud and clear.
