Do Lojy jsme dorazili pred pulnoci a pak prisel cas na dobre skutky - cestou k nam jsme videli parek zoufalych turistu, asi 60letych Americanu, zrusili jim rezervaci v hostelu a oni nevedeli co dal, postavali tam s batohmi a totalne grogy.
After 3 exhausting days in NP Podocarpus, we decided not to waste a minute and crazily travel 7hours by bus west of Loja to Puyango which is a place of the greatest petrified forest in the world. In order to catch our bus, we had to
wake up at 3am, took a taxi and went to Alamor, where we arrived about 10am and after a while we managed to find a bus to Puyango, which we reached after another hour. We stopped at military checkpoint, where we had to show our passports - its close to the border with Peru, so its normal. From here we were taken by local hombre in his car to the actual forest , he charged us 3 dollars - bastard. The whole forest is literaly covered with fallen petrified trees or its parts, which looks like huge stone from the distance and are so hard - we didnt forget to take a piece. The trees are called araucaracia and are still growing in this part. The whole forest feels like a giant cementrery of trees and one realize millions of years that passed until wood turned into a stone. ... or maybe just us? The way back was simpler than expected, to the main road we were taken by local on the back of his truck /as usual/ and we were interesting item for the rest of his family, especially the kids. At the check point the first bus that
didnt stop because of being to full, but we managed to stop a private car that took us to Alamor and charged us 5 dollar - thats a lot! In Alamor we had 3 hours to kill and it was a lot because there was nothing there. Only interesting things were futuristicly looking church and mainly cocks for the fights - popular activity down here. We arrived to Loja before midnight and then came time for good deeds - on the way to our hotel we met a couple of desperate american tourists in their 60s. Their reservation was cancelled and their didnt know where to go so we offered them to take them with us into our hostel. They were looking really relieved to have a bed for tonight.
