That's it, that's all folks!
Today we were able to go out! And that means I completed all the dives and certifications i set out to do!
All the dives today were on nitrox, my first time using it and it was pretty cool. The first dive was my deepest dive yet at 101 feet (everyone else went 100feet...) on a wreck called 'Captain Dan" and it was a beauty of a wreck!. Huge! With all kinds of cabins and hallways (theres a bunch of youtube videos of it). We didnt penetrate the wreck but I would love you go back again and see the inside. I was with my original dive buddies, Mark and Jim, who both snapped some pictures of the dives, so those will be posted when I get them. Both Mark and Jim are big guys with bigger lungs. There know for sucking back air like nothing else. Because of this we were in a little dilemma. Mark was really low on air (like 300 psi) however because this was a certificating dive it couldnt be less then 20 minutes. So we were forces to hold on the the anchor line (i enjoyed the view having over 1000psi, while mark panicked a little) waiting for the time to be up.
Being fresh out of rescue training, i was ready! I had my octopus (alternate air regulator) in my hand ready for him to run out of air!. I think i was even pushing it a little on mark because I wanted to buddy breath so badly! (A little too eager I guess) When we reached the surface it was a fight to get to the ladder, the waves were really kicking! On board between dive most the people on the boat were beginning to feel queasy. A couple couldnt even dive the second dive because they were too busy puking up a lung over the stern. One was a man I talked to earlier, who told me he was a cave diver. I had it all planned that between dives during the surface interval I would ask him about cave diving.... but at that point i figured he needed some peace and not to think about the ocean.
The second dive was on a reef called Star-kiss and it was a drift dive. The first part of the dive was just task oriented to complete the search and recovery aspect of the advance course. We recovered a weight belt and brought it to the surface using a lift bag. We descended again on technically the third dive of the day. We got to relax and just drift. We saw another Morray eel. And right after I spotted two lobsters but of course boys being boys no one was paying attention! They were all in their own worlds (i was tapping on my tank, trying making noises on with my mouth) Eventually they turned and i made my lobster signal (using my fingers as antennas on my head). Gary caught the first one (with his hands) and Mark went for the second. Just as he neared it, the curious Morray eel had followed us out and was swimming up to us. He rubbed his long, eerie looking body on the lobster then swam into the lobster hole! Mark didnt realize how close the eel was so he went after the lobster anyways and manged to catch it, also with his hands.
And those were the dives that finalized all my certifications: Enriched air (Nitrox), Advanced open water and finally Rescue diver!
