KOI PONDKOI PONDKOI POND

Hungry fish
For some reason now that I am back on dry land I am much more chatty…..here goes.

There is a beautiful koi pond at the hotel and the fish here are very smart. Just walk to the edge of the pond and they know you’re probably going to feed them so they swim over. There’s also a turtle the size of a dinner plate in there too. I was feeding them some crackers and they were jumping right out of the water.

I hung out at the hotel all day until ML & RL were done with work. While I am on vacation the entire three plus weeks, part of this trip is work for ML. Did I mention how beautiful all the female staff are at the hotel? They must run ads that say only the beautiful need apply.

Last night on the way to the massage parlor we were stuck at a traffic light (this light was five minutes long). A little girl about six years old approached the car to try and sell us flowers. She was barefoot on that hot asphalt running in between traffic. She just stood outside the car bowing to us. We shook our heads no and she would nod her head YES.
She was out there again tonight in the traffic. Just a heart breaking site for me.

Yes I know, even though I did not like the massage last night, the three us DID go back for a foot massage tonight. Within five minutes ML was sound asleep, RL was on his cell phone and once again I am counting the minutes until this hour is over. She mainly worked the knee to the foot but of course they had to rub my arms, my thighs, my neck, flicking my head…..oy vey, enough already. Tonight was $25 US dollars for all three of us.

OK now on to dinner at BECCOFINO for great Italian food. The chef/owner, Angelo, worked at the restaurant at the Sukhothai and then opened his own place in another part of Bangkok. Before working in Bangkok he was at the Enoteca Pinchiorri in Florence. ML has been ranting about this place forever so I was looking forward to it. Fantastic meal, probably one of the best on this trip. We walk in and Angelo is carving Serrano ham right off the leg…hoof was

still attached. Served it with some cantaloupe. Also had antipasto, three pasta dishes (he makes his own pasta) and a bone-in rib eye steak.

Next stop: the night market, in Patpong. We get out of the cab and ML says look at the elephant. I’m looking around for a statue but no he was talking about the real baby elephant right on the sidewalk. It’s a photo op for tourists of course. There are also monkeys running around…it was more like a circus. Night time is when everyone is outside, because it is so much cooler. They are eating and drinking and visiting and shopping and it’s packed on every street. On to shopping. I was looking for handbags for some friends and ML was looking for watches, like usual. The handbags here are not good quality fakes. We were looking at some crappy Louis Vuitton and she says $4800 Baht which is $120 US. ML says it poor quality and she immediately drops the price to $1800, we still say no and she comes back with $1600. We didn’t buy. Beijing has better quality knock offs.
