As you may have read in my previous entry....the rental car agreement did stipulated properly that we should not drive our car in Montenegro and Bosnia & Herzegovina. If we were to do so, the insurances would be void during the time we stay in those countries. And let be honest, Bosnia is not Singapore! We found a way around driving in Monenegro, but I was up for a surprise with Bosnia.

If you drive from Split to Dubrovnik...at one stage, you come across the border. There is no other choice than driving the 10km coastal road...which is in Bosnia and goes across the seaside "village" of Neum. There is actually one way to go around. This would have mean driving back to Korcula, and taking the ferry from there to the Mainland....very time consuming experience...and not really cheap. We drove two twice through coastla Bosnia. The first time was by night, and around midday few days later on our way back up.

There is not much to see of Neum...no Old City, well...don't know really what to write about the place, as even if I did look properly, I did not see anything of interest beside a lot of ugly houses along the coast. We did even stop few minutes. So no accident, no incident...and this was Bosnia. The original plan was to drive to Sarajevo, but without any kind of insurance, this had become not a great idea...maybe another time as I'm sure Sarajevo has a lot more to offer.

The next funny point is when you start to count a place as a country or not. My count today is at 88 countries and will reach the 100th pretty soon...and go even further. It's simple fun, no competition, nothing to really declare about it...so can also be seen as purely irrelevant. Some use a simple rule, you have to sleep in the country at least one night...fair...kind of agree (except for Liechtenstein maybe...or Monaco as way too expensive!). At the end of the day, it's not very important. I once crossed a country while rafting...30 meters in it....obviously that is not one on the count...

We are still today in Luxembourg...this time for another great birthday....today it's Ma'ri turn...I know, it's birthday season for us....the opportunity to enjoy more bubbles...and tonight...some Sauternes and few more delicacies....all this having great family time.

Tomorrow we are flying back home. I'm still pretty late on our entries, so you will need to suffer us few more times before I go quiet...the summer holidays are over soon, Leslie is back in school monday....full of experiences...next big trip for him are scheduled for October and Christmas....for us...just wait...

Love from three of us in Europe...and Happy Birthday to my Love Ma'ri...we are not getting younger....but with a 10 years old at home, life is great!
