Made it! It was a long journey, but having three seats to myself made it just fine. A bumpy and long but uneventful ride. The Lima airport, as always was madness. 7 international 767s all arrive within about an hour, so it is very chaotic. I found the sign that my driver held up quickly and watched and waited til our second passenger arrived. Lots of hot-country energy here at 1am local time. Big parties cheering and screaming as visitors arrived and loved ones returned.

I love the smell when you arrive on a new continent. there is a spice in the air here, coupled with the humidity of the sea and the warmth, that I cant quite place. In India, you can pick out the smoke of the dung fires and the curries in the air, but here, I am not sure. Regardless, it is lovely, and hits you the minute you inhale the local air. new continent smell....

Jessica and her friend Melody showed up this morning around 8 - what a great reunion! Jessica is looking marvelous and we are all in great spirits. Melody has never been out of the US and this is a really big adventure for her. Weve just had breakfast and are about to go exploring. Lima, as always is pretty overcast - seems perennial here as the wind off the Pacific keeps the town blanketed in fog.

We have a local artisan market in our sights, and maybe a walk to the cliffs above the Pacific. It is wonderful to be here and not be alone - I have always been through Lima solo, so it is lovely to be together with these fabulous women.

If it looks like my spelling and grammar, and particularly punctuation is going to hell, it is not me, really! the keyboards here are all spanish, so finding things as simple as the @ key take a bit of work....

looks like the sky is clearing....and off we go

Treasure Island Pearls
Hi Hon Forgot to say that I have the address for the TIP and will be mailing that today (Sunday). A cool rainy day in Vancouver. I was out to a fabulous nursery yesterday with Miss Trisha and bought some plants for the deck. Then we spent the afternoon in her year playing with plants and took out on of her cedar trees from the corner of your yard. Yes, we did!!! All female muscle and a whole lot of digging and pulling..........Now she has a fab full sun corner in her yard for more flowers. I'm off for my extra-hot-soy-decaf-latte and the morning paper. Love U Con
