I love typos ... homemade pasties! The last two days have all been about soaking it in which meant general laziness on the beach or aimless wandering around looking for photo ops or last minute souvenirs.
This morning I figured that I would hit up the Kuta Square Art Market. Art is quite the big word for the things that you find in this market. Bintang Beer t-shirts, board shorts and penis-shaped bottle openers ... but art is in the eye of the beholder I guess. The advantage of going early is that you get the "lucky morning price for you" and that means cheap! Yesterday I was able to buy three necklaces for about $ 1.50. And when you are the first person to buy, they would say "you my lucky customer" and proceed to rub the money on various spots in the shop for good luck. This is a highly spiritual island let's not forget. Offerings are piled high in front of all of the markets after all ... it keeps the evil spirits away!
I strolled along a few streets near Kuta Beach (the KFC had an offering that included french fries and a piece of chicken!!) and popped into a few

My room shops and stopped at a small warung for a watermelon juice. I then hopped back into a taxi and headed straight to the beach. The young girl who had offered me a lounger recognized me right away from yesterday and so I grabbed another chair from her today.
While chatting with her I noticed that she also had boogie boards. The idea of taking surfing lessons had been gnawing at me the whole time since I have been here. I probably would have done them had I been here with someone. I am not the strongest swimmer and Lord knows I have no coordination. Accounting ... yes. Photography ... yes. Cooking ... yes. Putting one foot in front of the other ... on a good day yes. Sports of any kind ... a big fat no.
It took me a little while to make up my mind but I decided to go for it! Travelling is not about the photos or the souvenirs that you bring back but the experiences that you have had (good or bad) along the way. And I plan on having a big old trunk full of those experiences one of these days!! I

Pool at The Green Room Bali was going to say ... stories that I can tell my grand-kids ... mmmm that's probably not going to happen. Oh well Anik ... I think that baby Nathaniel is going to get an earful from Auntie Caroline when he grows up!
So after paying my $ 1.50 (seriously how can you bargain that down!), I grabbed the boogie board and headed towards the water. Oh man ... I hope that the crowd that suddenly seems to have gathered knows that I have never done this in my life. Doggie paddling is about as aquatic as I get! So okay ... let's check out that young girl there and see what she does. Easy enough ... watch wave coming, throw yourself on the board and glide effortlessly towards the shore. A thing of beauty. I can do this ... I can do this ... I can totally do this. Ooooh there's a wave ... throw myself on board ... oooooh slippery from the sunscreen ...might fall off ... ooooh wipe out.... oh good bikini bottoms still on ... and crowd still around to witness that graceful water ballet. And yes water still salty!
So after a few not

Ganesha statue at The Green Room Bali so graceful attempts, I finally caught a wave and literally glided all the way into shore. Awesomeness!! And after a few more not so graceful attempts, I actually started getting the hang of it and just had the best time. So a little pat on the back for me for at least trying! And again ... man I wished my dad would have been here with me because man he would have LOVED it!!!
After a couple more hours on the beach, I stopped at a small restaurant just off of Seminyak Beach and had a lovely pad thai and banana fritters and a Bali coffee for dessert. I have become slightly addicted to Bali Coffee and will definitely have to detox when I get home. So much for being off coffee for the last little while. While sitting in the restaurant, the skies opened up. I know that I have mentioned rain a few times now but how can it not rain at some point in the day when it is THIS humid??? A woman from Perth, Australia popped into the restaurant to shield herself from the rain and we got to chatting. Now being completely shameless about

Common site around the hotel grounds trying to sell my photos, I gave her a business card (don't worry it was on topic with what we were talking about ... I'm not that shameless!) and she seemed impressed. She tucked it in her wallet so that she would not lose it because she wanted to check it out. There's a way for me to know if I have sales that come from those cards so I cannot wait to see what comes of it, if anything.
And so ends another journey. All I ever ask is that I be safe and again my travel guardian angel was looking over me. I say it every time but I am truly and deeply grateful that I have the opportunity to do this in the first place. There are no words to describe really how much this means to me and what joy it brings me.
As for Bali, it has truly tugged at my heart strings. That's the only way I can find to describe it. Tug ... tug ... tug.
So now the question is always "where to next" and this time I actually know the answer. The passport is being put away until

My outdoor bathroom next year. Family always comes first so I will be spending the week at a cottage with my parents, my brother and my sister-in -law. Just some good old Fournier family fun! Oh yeah and that little weiner Oscar will be there too ... he hates me now ... but by the end of the week I will be his favourite auntie!

This is all too lovely altogether! And the outdoor bathroom...wow! So nice to read that you are truly grateful for having this opportunity to travel...and travel safely. We know only too well that all this can be taken away in no time. Life is precious...enjoy each and every minute of it...be it in Bali or in a lovely cottage in North Bay:)
