Day 106: Saturday, March 13th, 2010.
Rockhampton to Fraser Island, Australia.

Per the Contiki Brochure, "We drive back out to the coast this morning after breakfast and jump on board a ferry. Enjoy the cruise out to famous Fraser Island, where we’ll stay at an eco-lodge for our time here. Each cabin has its own kitchenette and living room, as well as a balcony - perfect for hanging out & watching the sunset. Tonight, feast on our included buffet dinner at the Dingo Bar with the group and follow it up with some dancing or even karaoke."

We got to Fraser Island and my heart sunk at the site of more bunk beds. We were staying at the Kingfisher Bay Resort but we were in the hostel portion of the hotel (which was very far away from the 5 star hotel and its amenities- felt like we were the help). Between the accommodations and the young at heart folks everywhere, I think this is my last Contiki. It is a great company and I'll always recommend it to my younger friends, but I think I might be more of an "Antiki" (which is their term for older tour groups- "Antique" "Contiki"- get it?) This time I'm rooming with another Canadian Alana and two girls from England. That night, even though it wasn't St. Patty's day yet, the local bar, the Dingo Bar, was holding it's St. Patty's Day celebration. So, we all donned something green (I wore a green t-shirt but a lot of people put some serious thought into it and came up with some cool outfits) and headed across the street to the bar (we had eaten there earlier.)

Yeah, we had a lot of Green Beer day festivities the Saturday before back here, too. Honk!
