So March 6 Day 47- I went on the Angela's Ashes Walking Tour- with a wonderful Irish guide named Mike or "Micky" as his friends, including the author of A's A. He was wonderful. He gave us a lot of insight not to just the book but the daily culture of the time and added his own stories. A few favorites include when Frank (the author) wrote about climbing up the drain pipes to look in the 4 sisters of a friend and getting caught, and Jesus and the Weather poem- very funny. He also showed us a clock tower that was dedicated to a tailor who wanted to go to the US but to make money he made uniforms and soon the Confeds hired him to make their uniforms, but when the union won, he dyed all the uniforms to blue for the union and his uniforms for General Custer have his initials in the buttons and when he was old and went from a single man tailor to a factory of thousands, Limerick asked what he'd like in memory of him and he said a clock tower- funny. So Limerick, Ireland played a role in the Civil War! The more you know! We also saw a set of houses that are the last of their kind (squatty colorful) and streets that have been there since forever lol

Another funny story- where the coal factory used to be was a toffee shop. Micky told us that you could get a piece for a penny. Well his friend Frank had to go pay penance at the church one day to make sure he got to Heaven for his family's past and it'd cost him a penny to do so and someone gave him a penny to do so, but on the way he saw the toffee shop. Later when asked if he had paid his penny to get into heaven, he replied that heaven would have to wait a bit because he wanted toffee now. Haha- so funny.

After the tour, Amanda invited me and Kiera (and others) to her house that night bc Stephen her boyfriend had been in town all week and they were going to make her a birthday dinner (though 2 weeks earlier) and so Kiera and I went with them to get groceries and came back and had a wonderful dinner with friends and cake and sparklers- haha very fun and Happy Belated Bday Amanda!

Went to see Alice in Wonderland Sunday night and had pizza with Amanda and Kiera and Stephen- fun and relaxing weekend home 😊
