Hey Kara,
Really enjoyed reading your lreland post. I have always wanted to go there. My blog is looking for some good travel photos. If you have the time, check us out dirtyhippies.blogspot.com
Continued fun on your travels,
Eric
this is what your student days are for, Kara, to step outside your comfort zones, bend the rules a little (as long as they don't come back to haunt you when you're famous :P) Looking forward to the Brussels blog. See if you can find the man who's selling Vegemite sandwiches :D If you see a large redhead woman laughing loudly and eccentrically, that will probably be my friend from drama, Merin, who moved to Belgium last year.
sounds like you're settling in well now *hugs*
Sounds like ur having fun. If you see any kabab places definitely give it a try. That was a mainstay of our diet while we were there. Also beware, they dont have "chili" as we know it. Their chili is either a chili sauce that is middle eastern and is nothing like chili, or its some gross bastardization that u will find on "nachos" at bad American style restaurants. Take care and enjoy urself! And spar is a lifesaver lol! So is Centra.

well the two canceled classes- no not uncommon in college- for various reasons. I was just annoyed because I was able to sign up early and come here and they didn't exist. What was weird is the fact it seemed no one seemed to know anything about it- I was like- was this invented just for the AIFS catalog? But whatever, got it sorted, I'm taking two new classes in their places and they will count the same credit when I go back home and they're easier hehe
your classes sound a little messed up, don't they? is that fairly standard for uni or is it just the Irish not getting their act together? it doesn't seem fair that you could end up spending more time at uni because of this. oh well, it's still an experience and it'll something to look back on with a strange sort of fondness in years to come lol.
*hugs*
sounds like it's coming together now :) one more week and you'll have it all figured out :) Hope the noisy revelers keep quiet at nights. I'm sure you're not the only one who wants to sleep! :)
I am sending many hugs your way girlie! I know you will find friends very soon, (if you haven't already, havent read your other posts yet..) because you are just too much of an amazing person not too! I think it is great that you arent giving into the culture there and going out and getting trashed every night. I am praying for you girlie!
There you go :) Look for the positives :) I hadn't appreciated that you were the oldest in the group. "I think once school starts, I have my routines down, time will fly and things will feel less uncertain" <- exactly. You're out of sorts because there is no routine, your sleep is out of whack and you're encountering difficulties each day, BUT, you ARE overcoming them :) You have your phone back, you're beginning to figure out bus routes and where you are in the city. It's coming together. And your other post on FB and here have sounded encouraging when you've been in a good frame of mind. Keep at it, it will work itself out :) *HUGS*
There HAS to be more to it than students getting drunk? It is still early days and aren't more students due to arrive? Not every student drinks to excess. Maybe because it's still orientation week and people are getting settled in, they're enjoying the freedom while they can and because it's all new. Hang on in there. There will be more bonding once classes start :)
Day 5.2 Yeah girl,
you'll totally find people when you start school, you'll find people of your own moral beliefs and people of your own social ones too, and remember these kids are babies and are here to make all the mistakes in the world, drinking too much, parting too much that was never your personality, it's not mine either, but you'll feel great rellief when you meet a grad student or another senior like yourself who has their head on straight and priorities in check, don't feel weird for not being in their click, you are the normal one not the other way around. Love ya girl can't wait to catch ya on FB and chat with ya
Beeee Your Self Hey Girl,
Don't be so hard on yourself, you are having the chance of a life time please try and enjoy it, don't beat yourself up when you make a mistake everyone does and you're in a new country, new culture and so there is going to be some adjusting to be had, give yourself time to adjust. You're probably still suffering from jetlag. Maybe one night try it like the others stay out a little later or suggest a movie one night instead of drinking, throw out options I have faith in your girl! You're only on day 5, just breathe babe and pray when you get all jumbled... Love ya! Have a good rest of your Saturday!!!
Give it some time Kara,
You haven't made a mistake. Give it a little time and I think you will find that your outlook on Ireland will improve. You are a sweet, kind girl and I think the others in your crew will see that soon enough. You don't have to drink to have a good time. I am certain that you will find plenty of others things to do in Ireland besides drinking and you will find others who share the same interests. Hang in there. You are just in the adjustment period.
Love you.........Kathie
AWESOME Hey girl,
wow sounds like you're having an experience...good your settling into you home for the next 5 months, glad you've met cool people and you had Chinese and American food as your first food when in Ireland...now look for a Mexican restaurant and you'll be in Heaven. Can't wait for Parte Du
aren't you glad that you kept Sakura now? :) she is so beautiful and playful :) By now you should probably have landed in Ireland. Hope the flight went well. Looking forward to your next post :)
"But for four months I will give those things up to experience something, I believe will be incredible." You got that right :) That's the way to look at it and you would never have forgiven yourself if you'd not done this. I wish I'd taken more opportunities when I was young and responsibility free.
