Wood gathering in the arroyoWood gathering in the arroyoWood gathering in the arroyo

Betty and I went and got wood for the campfire on Sunday--full moon night
Things are good here..........and I am keeping as busy as always!!! Teaching on Tues and Thurs. to some residents in the park. We have an absolute blast. Funny thing is that last week I ran into someone who does NOT come to the classes and said that he heard that we are really having fun. Seems that it was the talk of the lunch crowd at the local lunch place called El Viejo. Word travels fast here in these parts. This IS a small town. I thought that it was hilarious!

Dark, rich dirt is hard to come by here---after all, we do live in the desert! So you could go to the nursery and find what I call "stick dirt" because the majority of it seems to be sticks and a bit of compost. I have some friends, like me, who like to find "free" stuff so we armed ourselves with a bunch of shovels and collected as many buckets as we could and headed to the "outskirts" of the arroyo and found us some very dry but dark dirt! I had then told my partner in sick and demented minds, Sherry, that I had seen this old chair

on the edge of the arroyo and that she would have to have it! She collects cool stuff that she finds and plants things in them at her ranch. So she hopped in the Baja Buggy w/ me and we fetched the chair. As predicted, her husband, Jim was shouting, "No way in hell is that thing.....". Need I say more? The chair has a new home. However, I could not talk her into taking the port-a-potty that I had seen farther up the arroyo!

I got some new plants that my neighbor bought for me in the planter that is in front of our bodega. My bougainvillea still does not show any new "life' but the locals tell me not to despair. I will most likely get a new one anyway. I love the flora of that plant. I did go out into the arroyo and dug up some palms that grow randomly. Since I have so little luck w/ the plants that I have bought in the past, I decided to go with the "share the flora" program that so many advocate! My morning glory is doing GREAT here and have already had some blossoms. Will take

We love to hear from you and yours!!! Hope all is well! Send news from the MITT!

Arroyo

This area is public domain for the Mexican people. During the hurricane season, the waters from the mountains run into the Sea of Cortez. Likewise, surges from the sea run into the arroyos.
