Day 3 - Dec 26

Well, I am sitting here typing this blog at 4:30 am. Our bodies have not fully adjusted to the Asian time zones yet. It seems we keep getting up around 3 am in the morning and can not go back to bed and at night we are getting tired and sleepy around 9:30 or 10:00 pm. I am hoping that we will adjust to the local time very soon.

Anyway, we don't have much to report on Day 3 since it was a travel day. We left Varanasi around 3:30 pm and arrive at New Delhi around 6 pm and did not get to our hotel until around 7 pm. What a different world between Varanasi and New Delhi. New Delhi is a much more modern city. We took the pre-paid tax from the airport to our hotel without any hassels from the local vendors trying to sell you something or scam you.

We are staying at the Shangri-la Hotel ( Shangri-la), which is one beautiful asian hotel. They are a hotel chain with locations around world. We walked around the hotel grounds last night and it is a very beautiful hotel. I am going to enjoy staying here.

Last night we were very tried, so we decided to eat at the hotel restaurant which was offering an Indian buffet. Indian foods from northern India. I tried all of the Indian curries they had. It was very very very good.

Once the sun comes up and it is light out, we plan to walk to Connaught Place which is heart of New Delhi where they have shops, markets, etc. We plan to explore the city and do some shopping. I want to get some Indian Silk Scarfs, Indian Silk Fabrics and other suvernior stuffs.

Tomorrow, we will be taking a train to Agra to visit the Taj Mahal. We won't get back to our hotel very late.

We look forward to exploring that area as well.
