Trekking in the Himalaya's for 4 Days

I don't think anything will prepare you for the magnificent Himalaya's. The trek started about 2 hours from Pokhara by minivan. Having spent the very early hours of the morning trying to book a flight in Thailand, which I have now found out that I have booked it from the wrong airport!

We started our trek with our guide, Laxman and 2 porters of which I have to say we could never remember their names, which is awful of us. Laxman was to be our guide through most of Nepal and we couldn't have asked for a nicer man and Chloe was in love.....

Our trek would take us up to Camp Australia, Thulakharkal; then on the Dandruk Trek to Landruk, on to Syauli Bazaar, Gjandruk. We went up and down through the mountains, along wonderful paths which are obviously well trodden. We took welcome breaks when we would suddenly turn a corner to find a small village always consisting of a place to get a drink and anything else you may want. The amazing thing to remember is that everything for sale on these mountains is carried up. You will get an 80 year old with a huge basket on his/her back whizzing past you as you carry next to nothing much to your dismay. You stay in "lodges" which are usually a bed (hard) in a room with your sleeping bag, or alternatively, as we did for 3 nights, you camp under the stars of the world.
It was very hard deciding on which photo's to share with you as there was so much so apologies for the amount of photo's but I just could not edit them anymore.

Enjoy as much as you can without being there.

safety in nepal
Hi there. We are planning a trip to hike the annapurna circuit in March. I just read the US state department travel advisory that spoke to the unrest in Nepal and the advise to not trek without a guide or trekking company company. We'd rather hike on our own. What are your feelings of the political and safety climate of Nepal and on the circuit at the moment?
