Hello there readers,
Today was fun. We have been here now a little over two weeks and since Cindy and George have arrived it has been nice to show someone everything we have seen and learned. We all woke up quite early to make it to the farmers market before all the food was picked over. We got into town at about 8:15am or so. We warned Cindy and George that the farmers market was really small but i still think they were surprised to actually see how small it is. Its like maybe 10 stalls, and that's it. We picked up some fun stuff, Myles and i have been eying this homemade peanut butter, and this weekend we finally decided to get some. I just hate buying it because it costs so much, but they don't sell peanut butter at the store here so i guess the $12 a jar was worth it. We also got some more chocolate bread because the ants got into the other loaf,a whole chicken (feet and all), some potatoes, another pineapple, and some other odds and ends. We made Cindy and George try some fresh coconut milk. An old man walks up and
down the street cutting coconuts from trees along the road, then on Saturdays he peels them and cuts a small whole in the middle so you can drink the milk right out of the coconut. Its surprisingly yummy.
After we shopped at the farmers market, we headed to breakfast at our favorite place, Bread and Chocolate. We all ordered the egg sandwich, with different things on it and with different sides. During our meal, the owner brought out a cake that he had just finished making, and i swear to myself that i must have a piece before we leave town. When he brought it out it was steaming fresh from the oven, dripping with chocolate. He stopped and told us it was three layers of cake with chocolate gnash between each layer, and then it was painted with another layer of chocolate. Amazing looking, but we were all so full there was no way we could stomach a piece.
When we were all done with breakfast we walked around a little bit and showed Cindy and George the town. We didnt quite making all the way to Rocking Js, but we got to show them a couple
of the beaches along the road, and some fun little shops. After that we headed to one of the regular markets in town and got some stuff for breakfast and dinner tomorrow. Then, we caught a cab home. Once we got home we relaxed a bit, then headed to the Botanical Gardens to introduce the parents to some of the local plants and animals. The owner was so nice, because we had been there before he gave us a special rate on our entrance fee. We saw a lot of red poison dart frogs. Myles saw an agouti again. Nothing that exciting happened, but it was cool to spend time wandering around, checking out all the neat bugs and pretty flowers. When the tour was over we hung out for the small demonstration after. This time instead of one of the owners, we had a young man for the village show us the fruits and veggies that they grow in the garden. We got to try a lot of stuff, but some of the ones we had access to last time (2 weeks ago almost) are no loner in season, so we couldn't eat them. They did bring out a
new fruit that we did not get a chance to try, and it was disgusting. After we all took a big bite, and almost threw up (lol), the guide told us it is a fruit but it is used a lot in foods to replace onion, garlic, and cream. And, surprisingly, that is exactly what it tasted like. Horrible. After we were thoroughly sweaty and tired we headed to Banana Azul to sign up for some tours.
Tomorrow we are going to Cahuita to go snorkeling and on a hike in the national park there. On Monday we are going to go ziplining again (Cindy and George have to do it!) and then we are going to ride some ATVs through the jungle to a waterfall to go swimming. Tuesday we are splitting up. The boys, Myles and George, are going deep water fishing, and the girls, Cindy and I, are going to the sloth sanctuary, to a chocolate farm, and then on a hike to another waterfall. Wednesday and Thursday we don't have any concrete plans as of right now but we want to go to the Jaguar Sanctuary and some point, and we want to take
a Caribbean cooking class. When we were done setting stuff up we had a few drinks, and then headed into town again to get some dinner.
We took the parents to our other favorite eatery El Dorado. Cindy and i had chicken nachos, George had a "especial" cheese burger (cheese burger, a slice of ham, bacon, 2 kinds of cheese, and all the green toppings that go with it.), and Myles got a ham, salami, garlic, and jalapeno, pizza. George's cheeseburger was a little smaller then he thought it would be but besides that everything was great as always. One of the restaurants that Myles and i had gone to the other day introduced us to Mojios with no mint leaves. It is amazing and that is now our drink of choice. So, that is what we continued to order throughout the night. When we were all finished eating and drinking, i think we were a little worn out from all the excitement of the parents getting here, we caught a taxi home instead of going out. Once home the boys sat around and tried to watch a movie on my computer (which is really hard because the volume
does not turn up really high.) while Cindy and i read. Myles and i had to get up early for our snorkeling trip so we went to bed pretty early, and slept like rocks.

Crista is a silly willy nilly!
Hey I just want you to look at the first sentence of the 3rd paragraph down "When we were all done with breakfast we walked around a little bit and SHOWER Cindy and George the town" I think you DEFINITELY should "shower" Cindy and George the town! I love Crista! Shes my mostest favoritest, bestest, specialest sister EVER! This damn thing doesnt have spell check so I am probably spelling things wrong also! Anyway spell check wouldnt have caught that. So I am really jealous that you guys are having so much fun while Dad and I are coughing our lungs out and mom is so bored! Tell Cindy to remember what I said... the zipline is a once in a lifetime experience so she HAS to do it! Maybe you can bring us home some chocolate! Will it get ruined in the luggage? I WANT CHOC-O-LATE! ROCK-EEE-ROAD! Love, Chunk
