September 6th and 7th,

Today we set sail from the St-Peter’s canal in Cape Breton, to arrive in Country Harbour and drop the hook around 6:30pm. The wind was blowing from the North from 15-20 knots and the seas were 3-6 feet and choppy at times. We are so happy to find a safe harbour for the night and drop anchor for the very first time. Slept like rocks...

The next morning, we weighed anchor around 7:30am to set sail for Sheet Harbour, but the seas were just not cooperating with us and the waves were hitting us broadside, so we decided to turn around and head back to safe harbour. Instead of heading back through 7miles up the river, we decided to try our luck in Fisherman’s cove, where we were pleased to find an empty government public wharf to tie up to. While there, we wanted to get some supplies and gasoline for our little genset, and wouldn’t you know it, we met some vacationers from Quebec who offered us a ride in town to get our gas and supplies. Charles and Lucille are a great couple who own a lovely cottage in Fisherman’s cove and they

were just so generous with us... We spent a good part of the day driving around with them and were able to visit a few local places such as Sherbrooke Village and the surrounding area. We even found this GREAT coffee roasting house called 522 Gourmet Coffee Inc, where the owners, Ingrid and Manfred, served us the smoothest coffee ever. We left with 3 pounds of the stuff and think of them every time we take a sip in the morning. Charles and Lucille took really good care of us and even wound up feeding us snow crab legs that evening. What wonderful people!

We leave tomorrow for Sheet habour.
