First destination in Taiwan...KAOHSIUNG

I arrived in Kaohsiung, Taiwan which is southern Taiwan. The plan for the tour is to arrive in southern Taiwan and make our way up to northern Taiwan. My big uncle book this tour for me so I didn't know what to expect. When I arrived, I met my tour group. To my surprise I was the youngest one in the group. Everyone else was old enough to be my parents. This is was not a bad thing. It was just that they actually treated me as if they were my parents. Later in my travels, I got couples telling me:

Couple 1: "Ay ya, wear more clothes..you're going to catch a cold"
Couple 2: "Oh yo, don't eat so much of that fruit, you'll get constipated."
Couple 3: "Geeee, why you still single...such a shame..."

Okay...so these people were worse than my parents, but they were nice.

So the first tourist attraction I went to was Fo Guang Shan. It's a temple on a hill top that was commisioned by a devoted monk. Not much to say about it. The thing about temples is that once you've seen one you've seen them all.

In the evening, we went to a night market. Taiwan is known for their night markets. Night markets are comparable to a county fair but a smaller version. The night market starts around 9pm and it consist of many booths selling food, groceries, clothes, drinks, specialties, etc. Night markets are every night and is very festive every night. The night we went just so happens to be a latern festival. Since this lunar new year is the Dog, there were many dog shaped laterns displayed.
