These students were in the kindergarten class. They loved looking at the photos I brought with me of my class and of our cat Betty!
We had a busy day on too little sleep..(our neighbors were partying until the wee hours last night).

I visited the school this morning. It is the only school on the island and is a Catholic school. It goes to 8th grade and the kids who want to continue have to travel by boat to either Belize City or Ambergis Caye for middle and high school. The principal told me that there is a push to build a high school since more and more parents want their children to finish high school. Up til now, most stopped at 8th grade. I spent time in the "Infant" classrooms (kindergarten) while they were working on reading. They really loved getting some of the crayons my students bought for them! Thanks, kids!!!

This afternoon we went snorkeling at the local reef (6-8 minutes by boat from town). Our guide was great and there were just the two of us and young man from BC on the trip....we saw lots of fish and beautiful coral, and ended the trip by visiting with nurse sharks and sting rays...we could pet the sharks as they came up to eat the fish the guide brought. There are Chinese, Mexican and Creole students in the class. Everyone speaks English, Creole, and Spanish!
also got into the water with them.... They were about 3-4 feet long.

Hope you are all fine...
